Been playing chess since like I was 7 (OTB, NES, PS2, Mac, you name it). I've been on this site on and off for years, I appreciate that they have never changed too drastically, but the devs are radical smelly French totalitarian cheese-eating surrender monkeys (yes that's an actual French insult, isn't it so clunky and overly long and glorious?). Wanna get away with cheating? Become a Patron and they'll let you use Stockfish on their site or on a different app to get all your moves from.

Lichess is the best chess platform on your phone. It has all the features of Chess.com that you have to pay for (puzzles, stockfish analysis, lessons, custom tournaments) but for free! Genuinely for free, no bullshit. All of which has improved my game a little bit (I'm still trash but I enjoy trying to learn)

As someone who doesn't enjoy chess as much as some people, I can't say much about the engine or the arrow tools or anything like that. However, I think lichess really has managed to create something special. There are so many little features that impress me quite a bit, from the satisfying clicks of pieces, the tournaments and modes, the ability to do all sorts of little things on the side.
Like yeah, it's chess at the end of the day, but it's the definitive way to play chess online for free, and that's a really nice thing. I just wish the Bongcloud was mandatory, then it would be a 10/10
