Yeah no, this ain't it chief.
This has some of the worst classic Doom levels I've ever played, and when it isn't that it's kinda just really lame, would not recommend.

ATTACK - Short and fun, leaves you wanting more 4/5
BLACKTWR - The problem with this one is it's to exact on the amo layout leaving you always almost in a realy bad position, normaly that can be engagining but it doesn't work you up to it 2.5/5
BLOODSEA - It's okay, I missed the punching upgrade at first would have been more fun to have it sooner 3.5/5
CANYON - Prety Meh, I don't get the point in putting the secrets behind doors that require backtracking the whole level feels lazy. 2.5/5
CATWALK - Realy strange level. A lot going on in a very small space. Clever but not necessarily satisfying expecialy when getting all the items after you find the end. 2.5
The Combine - Short and sweet but ruined by the fact it doesn't communicate to shoot the last switch. 3.5/5
Combine - It's decent but the pacing falls apart half way through. 3.5/5
The Garrison - It's fine. 3/5
Geryon - I don't know mutch about Dr. Sleep levels but this one is actually fun. Good range of weapon use and good level size 4/5
Titan Manor - Overwhelming in the start then just confusing and sutch once you get your bearings. I get it is supposed to be puzzles but it is super not obvious what to do. 0.5/5
Mephisto's Maosoleum - I thought this would be good. I think the layout is good but the balance is broken, to many boss sized enemies and not enough amo. 3.5/5
Minos' Judgement - I liked this one too. Good size was able to just check out a new area if it was to difficult but never felt like I was wasting time 4/5
Nessus - Was good, kind of short though. 4/5
Paradox - this one was pretty good. 4/5
Subspace - I like this one very much. Bigest isue was lack of clerity that you had to hit some doors to progress. I figured it out quickly but I don't see how you should know to do that. Solving this level was not satisfying. 1/5
SUBTERA - Solid level short simple but fun and enjoyable 4/5

Quite possibly the worst classic fps campaign I’ve ever had to play in my life. While I don’t consider myself an expert on how Doom levels should be laid out, it’s very clear from playing the master levels that it’s the exact way on how to not design Doom maps. Clunky, obtuse, annoying, and grating with nothing new to offer; the master levels is the worst fps game I’ve ever played. How this was allowed to release blows my mind.

2 1/2 might be generous. sick artwork tho. level by level:

Level 1: Attack ✓ ok
Level 2: Canyon ✓ ok
Level 3: The Catwalk ✓ eh
Level 4: The Combine ✓ eh
Level 5: The Fistula ✓ eh
Level 6: The Garrison ✓ bleh
Level 7: Titan Manor ✓ 😐
Level 8: Paradox ✓ good
Level 9: Subspace ✓ ugh
Level 10: Subterra ✓ mehhh
Level 11: Trapped on Titan ✓ UGH
Level 12: Virgil's Lead ✓ good
Level 13: Minos' Judgment ✓ good
Level 14: Bloodsea Keep ✓ ok-ish
Level 15: Mephisto's Maosoleum ✓ fuck off
Level 16: Nessus ✓ decent
Level 17: Geryon: ✓ pretty good
Level 18: Vesperas: ✓ pretty good
Level 19: Black Tower ✓ decent/annoying/bugs
Level 20: The Express Elevator to Hell ✓ eh
Level 21 (secret level): Bad Dream ✓ lame

meu pai que atrocidade é essa

ranging from pretty cool to just about better than base game to equally awful

uma das piores merdas que tem a marca da ID

Honestly feels like the worst parts of Dooms 1 + 2 level design philosophy. There were some decent levels in there, but they're not what stands out.

I'll give it a try the day I can get it working

ID (KILL) SOFTWARE IS AT IT AGAIN WITH MILITARY MIND CONTROL CHILDREN KILLING SMUT-FILLED PORN GAME DOOM (DUMB) BUT WITH A NEW TWIST!

"Master levels" as they are so referred, are this games ""bonus levels"" at a first glance. At a second - more intellectual glance - you see these mini bonus rounds are embedding a desire for flesh into the children of America. [Corinthians 12:21] I am afraid that when I come again my God will humble me before you, and I will be grieved over many who have sinned earlier and have not repented of the impurity, sexual sin and debauchery in which they have indulged. It is vital we keep pornography out of the eyes of the youth and the good people of America for all of our sakes. The youth- the minds of the new world- are all we have left after you strip us away. We are but mortal in these prisons of skin and teeth and nails with days numbered and wills fading until we are nothing more than a memory passed and a leaf falling from our family tree. Until DOOM MAKES YOUR KIDS QUEER AND YOU ARE FORGOTTEN FOREVER.

Only 4 of the 21 levels of this WAD are "good". The others are just a waste of time to play. I would only recommend if you want to complete all the commercial releases of Doom, but otherwise you're better of playing something else.

at least they're not ALL mediocre

More Doom II (if you're into that kinda shit)

Conjunto bastante interessante de níveis para o Doom II. Estava à espera de pior, visto que esta expansão mal é falada entre os fãs do franchise.

Ehhhhhhh
Yeah don't play this without the midi pack

This may strike some viewers as harsh but I think the creator of Mephisto's Maosoleum should die

Lots of headaches and bullshittery on the final levels, especially Mephisto's Mausoleum which has been the most painful out of all of them (used god mode). DOGWATER.

Worth playing once just to see how weird the levels are if you're a true Doom Sicko but otherwise very difficult to recommend. The levels just aren't that good! Get the "Master Levels for Doom II - 25th Anniversary MIDI Pack" to go with this to add a little flavor.

Great DLC to an already great classic.

DOOM II is an great follow up of the first DOOM game and offers some new features like new enemies, a new weapon, and a many more levels.

The principle is still the same as the first game. You choose one of the five campaigns and complete all the levels. Instead of fighting demons on Mars however, they now have invaded earth via the open portal that was left behind on Mars, and it is your job to sweep the streets clean of demon scum.

Story wise, DOOM II is simple but dark as ever. The invading demons have slaughtered almost all people on earth and the few that survive, have build space ships to get away from earth, into space. You help disable the barrier that the demons put up to prevent them from leaving and, when all survivors eventually escaped, you are literally the only human left on earth.

Although you saved humanity, you accept your fate that earth is lost and you wait for your inevitable fate. However, then, a message from the survivors from space is transmitted to you, revealing the location of the demon portal, where the invasion is coming from. You fight your way to the portal but discover that it cannot be destroyed from the earth side. You enter the portal, straight into hell itself and defeat the biggest demon you have ever seen. After this, you close the portal and you saved humanity once again.

Graphically, DOOM II looks the same as the first game. But with a series like this, that is no issue and I did not expect (especially at the time) some revolutionary change in visuals. Same goes for the sound, unchanged, but still as badass as ever. The new enemy designs were really cool and added to the overall experience.

I really liked the “earth setting” of DOOM II instead of space stations and factories, it really enhanced the experience for me and gave the game a unique feel. The levels were diverse and looked great.

The addition of the Double Barreled shotgun was great, and I used this badass weapon a lot. The sound feedback you get from this thing alone, was worth it to play DOOM II.

The Master Levels for DOOM II DLC contained twenty new levels, making DOOM II the biggest and longest 2,5D shooter I ever played when compared to DOOM I, Duke Nukem and Wolfenstein.

In conclusion, DOOM II did not disappoint and, along with several other classics, is one of those games that I can boot up anytime and complete for the fun of it, without it ever boring me.

Definitely recommend this blast from the past!

It’s just more Doom II but the levels feel very hit or miss, many of them are tedious or unfair but i think overall its still fun. Except for the level with like 30 revenants, fuck whoever made that one

Master Levels are absolutely not to the quality of id's best, for many are either too simplistic to care for or far too obscure to find ideal, but with creative maps like "Titan's Manor" and "The Express Elevator to Hell" (and its silly secret level, "Bad Dream," in which the player has a spiderdemon girlfriend slaughtered by a shit ton of cyberdemons), the expansion musters some appreciable value despite its mishmash of collected maps.

Every time I replay all the IWADs, I say "Hey I haven't played the Master Levels in a while, I should do that!" and I always regret it every fucking time...

what an absolutely miserable experience this is. It's sad because there are some great maps here! The MLs starts off strong with some bangers from Tim Willits ("Attack" and "Canyon") and there's some real gems at the end too (the "Black Tower" is a real joy, and "Bloodsea Keep" isn't half bad either) but everything else is mid at best, and an absolute chore to play at worst.

Several levels have MANDATORY secrets (boy I sure do love wall humping every square inch of the map for 20 minutes to find a key I need to continue the map!) and Dr Sleep's maps are these weird symmetrical levels that violate a very basic doom level design rule, if you have symmetrical areas in your map, make each side have different textures so the player knows what part is which. Otherwise, you just run around in circles with no spacial awareness because every part of the map looks the same.

Jim Flynn's 2 maps are these abstract behemoths that I can never make heads or tails on where I'm supposed to go or what to do. They each take me almost an hour to play through. "Titan Manor" especially has some weird abstract puzzles that I always have to fucking google how to beat. It's a real slog.

The absolute worst map is "Mephisto's Maosoleum"(sic). What could have been of been a badass level (a giant Mausoleum filled with icon of sins and tons of monsters would be cool if we had actual room to maneuver and whatnot) is instead another awkward slog and is literally unbeatable if you run out of rockets. So unless you're psychic and magically know you need to save several rockets for the end, a first-time player is practically guaranteed to have to do this map all over again when they finally figure what to do! What a miserable experience...

Paradox by Tom Mustaine is a good map and a breath of fresh air thankfully.

My advice? Play Attack, Canyon, Paradox, Black Tower, Bloodsea Keep , and The Express Elevator to Hell, and skip the rest. Bleh

This pack sucks. The levels are boring, long, ugly, and just unfun. It is obvious that ID just threw these out of the recycling bin. There are FREE wads online that are ten times better than this. Play anything by Skillsaw instead.

They're alright. Trapped on Titan and Express Elevator to Hell are my favorites!
