After not buying three straight games in the series, I came back to The Show when I saw '19 was free on PS Plus. I partially wanted it because...as a Phillies fan, I wanted to play as a "decent" Phillies team as opposed to a "last-place" one, but also to see how much had changed.
The answer? Well, this one might not have changed a lot, but the years of built-up changes since '15 add up to a solid product. Moments and March to October were decent additions worth improving in the future as well.

One of the better ones I've played in this franchise if not the best. It has nearly everything I want in a baseball game. I need to be careful though because these games can become super addicting really fast. They end up being a huge time dump where you just do the same simple thing over and over again. Hitting dingers will never not be satisfying though.
A return to form after an awful outing in 18 - MLB The Show 19 added March to October, moments, and personality archetypes to Road to the Show. Diamond Dynasty was excellent this year with a focus on the XP reward path, which rewarded you with great cards to play with even if you didn't want to engage with online matches or the mode as a whole. This provided an excellent onboarding ramp for those curious about trying out the mode and encouraged continued play for those that liked the mode already.
I bought this after deciding my copy of the Show '16 was finally outdated enough to justify it. It's shocking how little they updated it. The Show is one of the better sports games around but it still suffers from the same stagnation they all do. There's no other baseball game and this does the job I suppose. I wish MVP Baseball would come back :/
