in the past

This playthrough was three years in the making. I played off and on for those three years, but mainly in two big chunks, with the first being during the two week period between when I got this game and when I bought SMT IV, and the second being the past few weeks. SMT IV is a game that has extreme personal significance to me, and while I don't think Nocturne will ever mean that much to me, I still absolutely love everything about it. The world, the music, the tone, the atmosphere, the gameplay. It's incredibly well crafted. I hope I get to play through it again, someday.

This game is in a tie with Phantasy Star IV for being my favorite game of all time and I love replaying it because the experience is every bit as great as I remember it being. Playing Nocturne on Hard mode is one of the most intense experiences you can have in gaming, becoming strong enough to hit enemies even harder than they hit you is a very satisfying experience.

Decent and worth playing, but a lack of compelling characters and the amount of random encounters hold it back from being truly great.

"ONE MORE GOD REJECTED!" - The Demi-Fiend probably after hitting a critical focus-boosted Freikugel attack.

This brutally difficult behemoth of an RPG somehow manages craft together a brilliant experience I certainly wouldn't reject. As my first proper "real SMT game", I can see why some call it the Dark Souls of JRPGs. The Press-Turn System is one of my favorites to play around with, even despite seeming so simple yet complex. The strategy element this game has really allowed me to better appreciate all the way you can bust demon ass (and vice-versa.). Yes, I assure you, there is indeed a game beyond the Matador boss fight guys. Go for the True Demon ending, you'll get to embrace the full package as well.

It even features Dante from the Devil May Cry series...

A great game held back by being a product of its time, but looking past that it was really fun (even though this game has once and for all burned me out on random encounters in JRPGs, never again!)

Oh and Daisoujou is best girl. Saved my ass so many times.

really good so far but this game is really trying me with how much it sends me back when I die so im done with it (for now)

My first experience into mainline SMT was a great one, and I will be continuing.

While I feel the game's character writing was not the best, it did not stop me from having an incredible time with the game. Nocturne catches a lot of attention for being 'hard'. A more apt description would be 'punishing'. The press turn system is a real Feast or Famine deal for both ends of a battle, and really changed how I view turn-based combat.

The environments were always stunning, and they encourage you to talk to every soul or demon to piece together the story. I did the True Demon Ending, which without too many spoilers, explains the most about the world.

Would recommend if you're interested in mainline smt, especially as it is quite accessable, remaster or not. You will benefit from having a guide, though. Especially if you want to collect all Magatama like I did.

I beat it after a year after starting. My buddy helped me fuse an all jack bros team which I used to beat Lucifer. Pretty fun game but if pisacas' smt version of a repel didnt exist and I didn't have the exp or money dlc this game would be hell I salute the soldiers who played the og 🫡
Oh yeah the music is so good

I rejected god many times during this game

Great fights and story. Aged navigation and design decisions hold it back. TDE tasks are tedious, but the overall atmosphere and story are still great.

o true demon final tem aquela andadinha midia do demi fiend pqp gozei cara tnc

Jogo bom.

Awesome gameplay with a minimalist story, but it still works.

O smt menos pior q ja joguei (esquece o que eu falei)

>BUFF BUFF DEBUFF BUFF DEBUFF BUFF
>Oops no more buffs. Gotta do that shit all over again just to have a fucking fighting chance

Raidou and Dante was cool though...

really solid game, but I am not a dungeon crawler guy so most of the dungeons felt boring to explore accompanied with sometimes goofy encounter rates. game aint that hard too. the rest of the game is honestly really good, ost is solid, atmosphere is great, but gameplay has some really meh moments.

SMT's press turn battle system is the peak of turn based combat... probably. This game was amazing on release and has aged a bit but still scratches a unique itch that many games will not.

Started out fine but then they hit me with the 1-2-punch of weird esoteric progression and Skeletor's CBT carnival. Normally I would just try to push past a difficulty spike like this but with how slow grinding is and how many many people online say that it's gonna keep being like this, I think I'm fine to call it quits here for the time being.

they say demons get locked in ramadan, i beat the shit out them in this game with my unga bunga fists

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAHHHHHHH

bruh fr wnna fuck a pixie

Oh yeah baby, this game fucks. I sided with Isamu/Reason of Musubi as he agreed with what he said.

Questionable music quality in the remaster aside I think this game is just above SMTV for me although that may change when Vengeance releases.

Finished this game more than a year ago maybe 2 and I can safely say it is still peak

Nocturne is a product of its time and a timeless masterpiece at the same time. The dungeons give you a headache and the random encounter rate hurts sometimes, but the atmosphere, demon designs and graphics (especially for 2004) are great.

Reasons are better than alignment for me because alignments are very much “This one is evil this one nice”, while Reasons have a more varied alignment that the usual. And Nocturne having multiple endings is much better than for example SMT IV’s three basic endings.

This game was really cool. Atmosphere was dark and some parts were legit unsettling / disturbing. Press turn system is probably my favorite form of turn based combat, essentially a more rewarding and punishing version of personas 1 more.

Difficulty is a little overblown when it comes to combat, but I would not have ever finished this game without following a guide (which is ok) the dungeon design is straight up sadistic sometimes, but I think that's the point.

Overall very good game, and I'm very excited for SMT V to be released from switch jail this summer.

I found it interesting in terms of gameplay and I also liked the general atmosphere, but the game really got on my nerves :D At first I had hoped for more from the story, as this game series is generally described as "dark" and "adult".... Well, the story seems like what a 14 year old would imagine an adult, dark story to be, it's just as cliché-ridden and stereotypical as any anime stuff :D But what really turned me off was the gameplay and graphic design of the dungeons. I've rarely seen such gray, boring and confusing crap. Somehow I hope to learn to like this game at some point, because the atmosphere of the world outside the dungeons is very unique and dark, but I don't know if I want to fight my way through these dull dungeons.
