I like this kind of game, an existential take on a simple concept, something that grows bigger than you expect.

Cool remix of an absolute classic. You can't really do much to the core gameplay tho so, fun for a couple of minutes unless you're a die hard fan.

Incredible that this dull nothing of a game came out AFTER Space Invaders Extreme

this felt like tetris effect for space invaders

After playing Space Invaders Extreme I thought I would end up liking this game way less, since it seemed much closer in structure to one of the many ports and remixes that the original game already had.
I was pretty surprised to find that Infinity Gene instead decided to turn Space Invaders into a shut em up with some great enemy design and pretty impressive bossfights.
The game does struggle with projectiles blending in since the game LOVES the color white and some attacks are pretty ridiculous with how they come out of nowhere, but I really enjoyed the game

This game is awesome and I wish it had gotten a port to modern systems.

Remember Space Invaders? Me neither. These days, it’s a game that mostly exists to pad out ‘Top 100 Video Games of All Time’ lists and sell novelty heat-change mugs. So when Space Invaders: Infinity Gene declares ”THE KING OF GAMES IS BACK!” in its opening moments, it kinda feels like that time your drunken dad shouted ”THE KING OF GAMES IS BACK!” while weaving towards the karaoke machine for a frenetic cover of a 60s hit you’ve never heard of. The game goes to great lengths to show you how much it’s evolved, but ultimately it’s an exercise in stripping away everything that uniquely identifies Space Invaders in favour of a standard shmup that seems hell-bent on inducing epilepsy in anyone who’s able to make it beyond the first world. Taito have swapped their king’s crown for a Yankee snapback and squeezed him into some skinny jeans - it would be impolite of us not to give him an encouraging smile and a respectful nod, but maybe keep your distance. The old man is dying.

Space Invaders++ delivered, more or less, exactly what you would hope.
