A short fun little DLC. Takes about 1.5 hrs to complete.
Hard to review this as my playthrough was split across multiple years lol.
Glad I came back to this one, it was surprisingly easy to pick up the game again and tackle some of the hardest challenges it has to offer.

Whoever made Fire Mountain Mask Piece 4 room, just know this: i hate you. Possibly hardest collectible in my life.
Alarga un poquete el juego base si te quedas con ganas de más. Tiene ciertos picos de dificultad que son un poco ñeh, pero solo por la ambientación, la justificación in-game para esta expansión y sobre todo por la batalla final, merece la pena.

Consegue ser mais irritante e injusto que o jogo base, inacreditável. Esse 3/10 ganha somente pela arte, por que os inimigos novos são insuportáveis, são variações dos inimigos do jogo base só que muito piorados, tudo isso somente para colocar uma dificuldade artificial elevada que vai frustar o jogador na maioria dos confrontos, além disso, há seções de plataformas mais mal pensados do que nunca aqui, não consigo acreditar que deram "Ok" para algumas telas desse jogo. Não consegui terminar essa bomba para fazer uma análise completa e nem pretendo.
cara, dlc curta, mas desafiadora e divertida, que deixa um gancho pra continuação, espero muito que continuem com esse jogo, inclusive fiz 100% do jogo agora.

Biggest complaint is that it's too short, so that's a good sign. I would've also liked more of the metroidvania stuff, but the length makes it understandable for why they couldn't do that.

For a free DLC, this is nothing to complain about. It adds some nice fun minigame type areas, doesn't take itself seriously, and is a nice bonus for fans who loved the original.
The Bad:
There are some obnoxious areas, the music is surprisingly lazy compared to all of Brown's other work, and the whole DLC feels a bit thin and tacked on.
Summary:
It's really only worth playing if you really love the original, and it's free and only takes a few hours at most, so why not?

The ending of the original felt abrupt despite coming at a good point in the overall journey, so with some slightly harder challenges and a proper, albeit comedic final boss, this feels essential to the Messenger experience,
DLC divertidíssima. Infelizmente é muito curta, mas por ser gratuita tá valendo.
Surprisingly high quality for free DLC. Adds an extra 1/4th to the game, and is really fun! Also it adds some fun additions to the base game so it's absolutely worth checking out

Well, there I was earlier today, feeling smug as I'd completed the base game after getting all the Power Seals, but then I discovered that there was this completely free DLC available for it, so I had to give it a download. It's about three hours long, depending on your skill level, and features some excellent bosses in some colourful new locations - the developers evidently played Cuphead a lot in the year between the base game coming out and this new DLC chapter. It can't possibly hope to recreate the big twist of the original game, but it does include some surprises in what it asks you to do. I won't spoil anything, except to say expect an homage or two to a few other older styles of game...
Unfortunately, however, the punishing difficulty makes it pretty hard to recommend to most people. Some of the platforming sections later on are positively masochistic, including an absolute motherfucker of a level inside a volcano, and I only got to the credits through sheer bloodymindedness. In truth, I should probably have put the game down and left it, but I'm too stubborn, and now my hand is cramping like a bastard. It's a shame, as I don't think what makes the original game great is its difficulty, so I don't know why the devs felt the need to double down when it came to this.
But still, if you liked the original game and, like me, didn't know this existed, then the price is right and it may well be up your alley. It doesn't get silly hard until the final hour, I'd say, so check it out anyway.

Já aviso logo: a história de Picnic Panic é toda de qualquer jeito, só uma desculpa esfarrapada pra você jogar mais umas fases. Inclusive com alguns personagens ficando descaracterizados e rolam umas paradas meio toscas e problemáticas de vudu = magia negra. Ser só uma desculpa não seria problema, se o original não tivesse uma história TÃO MANEIRA, e se o jogo não criasse expectativas falando que é "uma linha do tempo alternativa onde os vilões venceram, e que deve ser evitada a qualquer custo". Então já abaixa aí o seu hype quanto aos diálogos e ao universo, que é o melhor que tu faz.
Agora, se você consegue dar foda-se pra tudo isso... Cara, é mais The Messenger. Mais fases fodas com um level design pica, mais colecionáveis escondidos pra te recompensar no fim caso tu pegue todos, e mais oportunidades pra se sentir imparável batendo em tudo e pulando nos momentos certos pra alcançar todos os lugares. Como o próprio jogo diz: "espero que você não sinta que seu jogo teria sido melhor sem uma história secundária tropical".
