I enjoy this title quite a bit. The main campaign is enganging enough to make you want to finish it. Each individual hero you select has their own objectives in the campaign; so you can actually end the playthrough early if you end up doing them. They offer just enough variety to make new runs unique.

It is fun overall, just a little unpolished in some areas. Some of the battles are very frustrating with the way the enemy AI works. It also has some performance issues on Switch.
But it otherwise delivers on what it advertises. And it's so cheap as well, just 2-3 bucks on sale. You get a lot of value for the price here.

this game is basically an adaptation of an old-school fantasy choose your own adventure novel, and it embodies every aspect of that, so that means great art (click on the pages to de-color them for the full retro experience) some BS difficulty and a solid fantasy adventure story. if you are psycho like me then this is a good time, WARNING though there is no dwarven playable character which is a very disappointing setback to this game. you can be an orc though

Warlock of Firetop Mountain does a great job building atmosphere in the pen and paper tradition. While it's not the best writing I've come across it has the right vibe for a retro D&D adventure module. I found the combat to be initially unintuitive and ultimately infuriating. I also found the trial-and-error adventuring style frustrating. I think this is mostly a nostalgia generator, and it may be great at that, but for me it kept all the worst parts of D&D and the new stuff didn't click.
