Pretty gewd. The 0 karma ending's cutscene is weird with the boobs but otherwise it's fun and the vibe is awesome.

So shout out to this game for being an early indie horror hit that was actually scary without any jumpscares/chase scenes. Truly incredible. The art style and control is also very good, it's crazy to think that this came from such a small team.

I will say though, I did have to use a walkthrough at a certain point. Certain things just aren't super clear, both in your objectives and what things are interactable/significant in the environment, which is important for a point and click game. Or rather, there were things that you had to click on that were completely unmarked, and things that only existed as decoration and yet really stood out in the environment.

But overall, amazing. Awesome and unique graphics, great sound effects, great voice acting, and perfectly scary without feeling cheap.

It's neat to hear a younger Kira Buckland and the scenery in this game is good, but I'm not the biggest fan of the character designs (including the unnecessary fanservice in the good ending) and I feel like there's a few things that should've been expanded upon in the game.
In the end, it is worth checking out since it's free and a pretty short game, plus it inspired Ruby Quest which is a cool webcomic.

I played this as a kid, forgot about it, then spent years trying to find it based off my vague memories. I remember it being the coolest thing when I first played it, and you know what? It still is pretty damn cool.

Silent Hill by the way of How To Draw Manga

distinctly amateurish yet well designed point & click. story's derivative, but the real star of the show is the presentation and atmosphere - both of which are top notch

...also has extremely early kira buckland va - which uh, really shows. it's neat in retrospect but her direction in this is straight ass. kinda adds to the whole "how to draw manga" aesthetic i suppose

Very immersive and unique animesque atmosphere, it doesn't really have the most mind-blowing plot in gaming fiction, sure, but it has something to say and it does so as well as it could in its small runtime, in the sense that you get a full hour (or more if you are bad at puzzles) of intensely trying to figure out what the hell led to you collecting body parts in an abandoned spaceship, with the confusion remaining after the final revelation (which is kind of a coomon trope, but it's cool/interesting in how they incorporated it specifically in this game), so yes, it doesn't fail in keeping you interested to see what happens next. The only thing I'll complain about is the puzzles, because some of them were pretty obvious while others would be almost impossible without a guide, so I'd find it cooler if they were made so that you get some sort of sense of achievement when managing to solve them. So yeah, interesting idea, impeccable atmosphere, cute (well, maybe not the best term but you get the idea) graphics, good writing, meh puzzles, nothing life-changing but it is fun in its own right and also impressive how a small group of people did this in 2005 and it's available for free.

Really good horror in this. The art is great (it has animations!?) and the voice acting is impressive for 2005. The puzzles were all pretty logical, i didnt feel like i needed a walkthrough.
This game is really charming and impressive!

Really unique point-and-click horror title with an artstyle I love. Amazing this was done by such a small team, is a very unique title. Pretty short and not extremely deep, but something I still really enjoyed.

The White Chamber is one of many exemplary cases of how free games/freeware had been before digital storefronts became widely accepted. 2-10 British and German dudes (+ the one or two women they knew to do a the VO work) working a year or a few for a proud tribute between Event Horizon and Silent Hill, with the sheen and style of Anime. In the limited budget cost of "no profit", a Point-and-Click becomes and easy path forward to develop with. Many of the people involved went on other and maybe greater things down the road (not alone, but with Kairo being a notable example).

Because of how short this game is (1 to 5 hours, depending on how knowledgeable you are of it), a walkthrough will spoil the setups and paths quickly. In whole, a short, well put together creepy experience.

definitely has "something I would've played as a child and then forgotten about years later" energy
