This game feels like playing a saturday morning cartoon, hell, even the silly dialogue and voice acting adds to the feeling, as if it was the 4kids dub of an old anime.

And I love it, is so fun, so charming! Gameplay takes a while to start feeling interesting, but the characters and plot catch you quickly and the references are introduced perfectly. More than once this game made me laugh loudly and that's something that I appreciate a lot.

Sadly... as this is the PC version of the game, I have to lower its rate a little bit due to how TERRIBLE the port to PC is, but if you get the chance to play it on console, it probably would be a 4/5 easily.

Fun gameplay bogged down by a weirdly overcomplicated story.

I thought this game was alright. It looked really nice and I really liked the designs of the monsters. The story was also kind of cute. The combat and movement however felt a little too slow and weren't that fun to play. It was fine but nothing spectacular.

A genuinely really cool series celebration game. They story’s kinda blah and the two main characters are a bit annoying, but the combat system is killer and the game absolutely nails all the fanservice. The constant difficulty spikes get annoying, though.

Great game with an interesting story, characters and incredibly fun game play. Puts a unique spin on monster catching and it's combat, which adds more strategy. The game's environment and art style also look fantastic.

good story with a nice classic turned-based system. i like the MC´s alot!

funko pop: 😴
funko pop but final fantasy: 🤯

World of Final Fantasy has a massive identity crisis. I'm only a few hours in, but man this is kinda dire. Sometimes it's a self-aware game that borders on Joss Whedon-tier with how much the menu winks and nods to the audience, undermining their intelligence with both that and the worst written protagonist I've ever witnessed with dialogue that would be laughed out of any Saturday morning cartoon, and other times it's this deathly serious game about lineage and memories, and I'm sick of the disparity. It's either commit to what you want to say or get the fuck out. People want to say Kingdom Hearts is childish and inconsistent in tone, yet shit like this gets a pass. It is easily the most patronizing a Final Fantasy game has ever been. I can't even bring myself to continue, let alone try to think about any deeper meaning it's trying to get across. Final Fantasy XV used to comfortably be the FF I have the most disdain for, but now the gap has closed significantly, and at least FF XV commits, even if its themes aren't explored well at all. WoFF doesn't. It takes a lot for me to say I cringed playing a game, but jfc, dude, I was cringing for most of my playtime. Not even Sonic Colors made me cringe this much nor this hard. WoFF has given me the worst first impressions of any game I have ever played, and that's saying something.

Excellent Pokémon clone, equally excellent classic Final Fantasy. Its anime as hell story super charges both the humor and the melodrama while paying tribute to a legendary series in the dumbest most Ready Player One way possible. The extremely good kind of junk food

Lann and Reynn are an amazing comedic duo
If Pokemon is lame to you now, this is a really good substitute

A great and fun game for Final Fantasy fans.
Post story is really hard tho.

Enjoyable twist on Final Fantasy with monster catching mechanics, but I think the game needed more polishing.

Before I get into my thoughts, I recommend getting this game on the PS4 or the Switch, as there are issues on the PC version which could corrupt your save.

This is a game that shocked me when it was first announced. It looked to be a cute crossover game about the different Final Fantasy series in one world, though playing as two new characters unique to this world. It looked fine, but then I read deeper into it and discovered that it was a monster-taming RPG and it immediately had my full attention.

To my surprise, this game turned out much better than anticipated. The original story here was well thought out, with a few twists that I wasn't expecting on top of it all. The themes of growth and responsibility shine so much stronger within a monster-taming game as these themes can be reflected in your party of monsters.

And the monsters you can utilize here are fantastic. From Moogles and Chocobos, to summons like Ifrit and Shiva, and some extremely niche picks I dare not spoil for you, they round out the roster so nicely that it doesn't feel like you're missing any key creatures. Unlocking some of these creatures is satisfying too, with having to beat them in a special encounter before getting the opportunity to use them on your team.

Speaking of battles, they play out a little weirdly. This takes inspiration from the ATB battles of the SNES games and has players making decisions on the fly. Of course, you can adjust it so that the game is more like a traditional turn-based RPG. The weird part is that you are allowed to use 4 monsters along with your 2 main characters but each monster has to be a part of stack. This was a weird design decision, and it looks very goofy, but in terms of gameplay, it allows for really diverse and interesting game mechanics. Do you focus on empowering your stack to take big hits, or do you dismantle the stack to get more hits in on the enemy? It's pretty engaging stuff.

All that said, I do have some complaints. Firstly, the voice acting is very annoying, and the characters can be grating. Lann especially, as he acts like a huge idiot through most of the game. Also, the game can feel pretty slow at times, only speeding up during the combat though only at the push of a button. The monster evolution mechanics are also a little weird to me, of course, you can evolve your creatures as you see fit, but they can also transform into completely different creatures within the family and tracking which creature can transform into is difficult especially when you get special rewards for going to such lengths.

This is a game I can easily recommend to any Monster-Taming fans or Final Fantasy enthusiasts. Unless you hate the art direction or RPGs in general, this is a really fun game and completely worth the price.

SteamDeck - 35 hours (True Ending)

3rd time is a charm. I started this twice (PS4 & Xbox) and liked the combat but dropped off due to the story. I recently got it for the Deck & finally finished it!

Probably the biggest surprise for me in this game is the story is actually good near the end of the bad ending & stays good for the true ending.

The stacking was a cool idea but later on gets annoying because putting in the wrong monster can make your stack prone to falling. I wanted to experiment more with monster combinations, but you felt punished for doing so.

Each monster has a skill board and I like those a lot but when you have that many monsters, you spend a lot of time unlocking a lot of pointless nodes.

I'm glad I finish beat it and got the true ending. I didn't do any of the extra dungeons that unlock after that because it was getting really grindy at the end and I read that is a ton of grinding for those dungeons.

I like being the tiny characters and putting an even tinier monster on my head.

Basit biraz uzun keyifli pokemon basic sıra tabanlı yaram

Didn't get too far in this game, Lann is one of the most insufferably stupid characters I've ever seen to the point that I uninstalled the game because I was so goddamn sick of listening to him. Shame too, since the rest of what I played wasn't even bad at all, but I'll be damned if I have to spend an entire 20+ hour game with this guy

You don't get much from this DLC but you do get Zack so it's basically perfect
