You just lost the game

Nailed the vibe and aesthetics in every way and I found the platforming really fun as well. Perhaps the highest praise is that I really dug the metroidvania elements which is a rarity for me. Uncovered 80% of the world and collectibles in about an hour.

I briefly checked out the Extra Spicy mode which reminds me of the og Super Mario 2. Anyways, well worth checking out if a screenshot looks appealing to you.

Short, VVVVVV esque platformer, screen names and all, but not as fun, though I am sucker for precision platformers like this. Looked up how to get to the end instead of meandering about for God knows how long.

it was free and i didnt have any steam games

It's ok for what it is. It doesn't take long to beat and it doesn't overstay its welcome. The controls are good and it never feels unfair. It lacks music, but more than that it lacks a minimap and playing a Metroidvania without one (even a small one like this) feels a bit off.

Fun platformer that you can beat quickly. Good stuff.

Why anybody would want to spend time on something that so uncritically emulates an almost objectively worse period of video games is beyond me, and the game’s developers haven’t seemed to have come up with a good reason either.

Cute little throwback to 80s microcomputer platformers, stumbled upon back when Steam didn't have as many F2P games

3 letters backwards thing was bullshit, I looked it up and I don't care. Otherwise this was a solid game that didn't fuck around. Straightforward and challenging but a little annoying.

I love games that I can finish in a single sitting.

Has a few moments that are tedious and/or kinda bullshit, but otherwise it's fun!
Pretty solid for a free game.

Good companion piece to VVVVVV, if you're looking for more of that single screen platforming/puzzling.

A very fun game that's free on Steam. You have to check it out yourself, there's no reason not to

this shit went hard when i was a broke middle schooler with a craptop in 2015. this, dead pixels, quake 1, and warlords of draenor was most of what i played that year.

You Have to Win the Game is a great free retro platformer that's about 1hr long, but highly replayable.

The free platformer game takes the antics of PC gaming from the 80's to provide a totally retro experience (besides the UI) for the curious players. Explore the ominously fascinating underground place, overcome tricky obstacles while avoiding your enemies, unlock powerups and, for its namesake, reach your goal of the game.

Some challenging obstacles can take a number of tries and new thinking but are not as impossible as they look. After all, the game rewards exploration as you get to find items of value for your game score (rewarded with an achievement for full score).

One notable thing to mention about the game would be the graphics, despite depicting the rocky environments, are lush and colorful by the 80's video game standards, which can make the game world feel immersive to a certain level.

i meant to go for all the achievements but never did and don't anticipate actually doing it. brooks did tho that was cool. i did like this game, it was a fun platformer even if i got lost every once in a while

I played this game a couple years after it came out but I completely forgot about its existence. I came across it again the other day and decided to give it another go. I do really love the premise of a pure platformer metroidvania, as I usually find combat the worst part of most action-adventure games. It also helps that the game keeps cycle based platforming (the worst kind) to a minimum, only sparsely including it in a handful of rooms. There are a few gripes I have with this game that keeps it from being a standout for me however. The biggest one is that it's too short - it can easily be beaten in less than 2 hours. Likewise it's a bit too easy, I felt like there wasn't enough in the way of precision platforming, or creative mechanics to make it more engaging. The game could've also really used a map even though it's short, a metroidvania without a map is kind of a nightmare. Lastly, at times the game goes for that annoying "I wanna be the guy" fangame trolls that were popular at the time but haven't aged very well.

I got 99.22% and I'm counting that as completion because I have absolutely no idea as to what I could've missed

Hey, don't threaten me with a good time.

This was... a platformer game. That's all I can really say about it. It's short, and it plays well, but I'm struggling to remember anything about it. I wasn't a very big fan of the visuals either.

But hey, at least I played it for free, so it's not like I lost anything for playing it. Didn't gain anything either, but oh well.

É bom, até você chegar no final e não descobrir o código final...

If you're just looking for a simple platformer with a double jump and eventually a wall jump, this gets the job done. It's also free. Not the greatest 2D platformer I've ever played in terms of movement or level design, but hey, it's free after all.

A hell of a fun platformer that I've had kicking around my Steam library for some time now. Figured I'd take a few days and crush out the actual end. Was extremely rewarding.
