You could make the map 10% of the size, and the game would still probably be 100 hours long and repetitive as hell. This series sacrificed any identity it had to be a shitty knock off of the Witcher.

English/German below

I started the game towards the end of January, relatively soon after Origins, which I really liked. Now towards the end of March I finished the game after a total of 85 hours.

Got a total of 55/78 successes (1015 success points). In the end, a progress of 95% after I have done pretty much the most reasonable side quests, all bosses and cultists, as well as discovering every region and upgrading everything.

Graphics / setting

Hammer. I played on the One X towards the end and the game is just beautiful in places. The characters were beautifully staged and I really like the setting. Even more than Egypt in origins. The landscape was breathtakingly beautiful and, overall, unbelievably huge.

The performance actually always ran smoothly. One or the other time there were funny glitches and graphic bugs, but acceptable for the map size.

Gameplay

I just like the new AC direction. I really like the combat system and the advanced RPG elements from Origins blend in perfectly with the gameplay flow.

Overall, I would have liked a little more qualitative diversity in the active skills and perhaps a little earlier the very large selection of passive skills. I almost always played by assassination or ultimately hand-to-hand combat, trying pretty much all weapons. I just didn't like the bars, they just didn't have any oomph.

story

As always, I don't want to write so much here; in any case, I was satisfied with my end. In general, I really liked the trip with Kassandra, a great odyssey.

Negatives

- horse physics (ran very buggy)
- Control sometimes led to unwanted assassinations when you just wanted to loot
- Mercenary system (actually cool) but not well integrated, too often you can't understand the persecution
- sometimes the gestures were completely exaggerated

Conclusion

4.5/5 olive trees.

Hab dabei insgesamt 55/78 Erfolge geholt (1015 Erfolgspunkte).

Negatives

- Pferdephysik (lief sehr Buggy)

Fazit

4.5/5 Olivenbäumen.

I really loved Kassandra but the open world was too big and boring. I finished the main story but not the side quests, or the fate of Atlantis DLC as that just didn’t grab my interest.

Cassandra is a really good protagonist. The tone of the game is good. The soundtrack is fun. The world map is biiig and has a lot of cool stuff in it. There are some dumb stuff, and some REALLY dumb stuff. But it's a fun game. Chill with Socrates, jump off mountains without dying, eagle visions some twins to figure out who is the imposter.

This might be the unpopular opinion, but I love this game

A solid case of quantity over quality slightly ruined this game for me, with it starting off very strong but slowly fizzling out as I just discover more and more of the same content. This was the first of the 'new' Assassin's Creed games that I had played and was super excited to get back into the series, at the start I was really enjoying it finding the combat new and refreshing compared to the older ones and the story quite interesting however after a certain point it just got a bit much with me being tasked to do the same thing over and over again for each section of Ancient Greece and eventually I just lost interest and wanted to blast through it without a care what was going on.

I put this one down after I bought Valhalla on a whim, but I miss the female protag's playful dialogue and delivery. She has a lot of character, considering you choose many of her responses in dialogue. This game is just one of those Ubisoft comfort food games. There are better games, more ambitious games, but this is one of the best AC games for when you want to just mindlessly explore and chill out.

miss og assassin's creed. open this game. witness the many skill trees. close the game

God I wish they'd cut out the stupid ass Assassin's Creed overarching plotline Templars this Isu that I don't care! I'm here to run around and kill things and see Alexios half naked. The plot was surprisingly nice though

What an amazing game. Don't listen to the haters, this game is as close to perfection as you can get from Ubisoft. And for those who moan about the modern day sci-fi storyline, you may not like it but some of us do, so get off your high horse and let us just enjoy it. This game has everything, action, stealth, mythology, history, Spartan kicking, even philosophical and ethical problems. Why so many reviews complain about the setting is beyond me, it's an amazing part of history, with such a fascinating cast and legendary historical figures. Also, don't choose Alexios, he is lame, Kassandra's character is ten times better, female protag ftw.

Pitagoras mamadisimo

System: Xbox One X

If you're into the style of AC Odyssey, you're in for a good time here.

Odyssey is a story of having simply too much to do for it's own good. The graphics look good, the three main stories are interesting enough, and the game play is the same as you've come to know with the next gen of Assassin's Creed games. The gold rimmed question marks, and the side characters they lead you to are good, with some being standouts like Socrates being one of my favorite parts of this game.

The problems come in when you look at the size of the map, and see the amount of things you have to do. The white question marks all eventually become the same thing, and they seem never-ending. If you completed Origins at 100%, howlongtobeat.com says it has an average of 80 hours, which is big on it's own, but Odyssey takes that up another fifty hours, to 130, and it eventually becomes too much for it's own good.

If I didn't start off by attacking the question marks on the map and just stuck to real side quests, along with the gold ?'s, I believe that I would've enjoyed this game more, but by the time it came to it's conclusion, it just felt like a drag, and that's the biggest disappointment of all.

Here we encounter the same problems that were present in Origins. Too much to do, non-optional side quests, and unengaging combat.

Recomendo muito pra quem tem insonia

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is a big risk. Not financially — they always seem to be sure money makers — but creatively. While Ubisoft claims the gap between Syndicate and Origins had been planned, that hiatus coincidentally helped stave off the burnout inherent to an annual series. And then Assassin’s Creed Odyssey was announced to come out just less than a year after Origins, risking the fatigue that the Egyptian entry and the sabbatical worked in tandem to avoid. Odyssey hardly improves on the previous game’s foundation and is a step back in a few ways, but it still tells an incredible, character-driven story in a gorgeous, expansive world.

Boring story, fun combat. - Platinumed.

Fantastic, anyone who says its too big are big stinky

I'll give this game one thing except great setting. It's super addictive

An unreasonably massive game that gets so much worse the more you play it. The second turning point the franchise has taken except it is going even more downhill now

Not a big fan of the setting and I ain't a big fan of this latest entry either. The series is really falling off as it seems that the devs are running out of ideas and that frustrates me. It's probably my least favourite in the series as it's so uninteresting

embarrassingly bad. an amalgamation of every annoying AAA gaming trope with a ridiculous 60+ hour playtime. zero identity

Really bland game, terrible combat that the only difference on harder difficulties is the bloating of health bars. Greece is a fine setting but this map much bigger than it has any right being. Story is also atrocious and is basically just a fan fiction.
