Disappointing. I made it 70% of the way through and stopped. It's boring and repetitive.

this game gets an extra star for the glide ability

The gameplay goes from just okay to wonderfully smooth once you get the levitate power (halfway through the game), and the story goes from meh to interesting at the very final mission. It's just not that fun to go through unfortunately, but I still did every quest.

It's like an okay-to-middling third person shooter with better-than-average art direction and I feel like a crazy person for being the only one who's not in love with it.

The world is significantly more compelling than the actual plot, although what the game lacks in narrative it makes up for in wild, recklessly destructive combat. Extra points for the side quests - they're all excellent.

Great feeling shooting and compelling world building. I'm not sure the plot is quite up to the standard of the world it inhabits but it's engaging nonetheless.
Even on PS4 Pro the game did suffer a few technical hitches though. If you've not played yet it might be worth waiting until next gen to jump in.

Aesthetically incredible game, I absolutely loved the art direction and tone of this game. The plot is admittedly weak; however with none of the characters really standing out to me besides the janitor. Combat is pretty fun, I fully upgraded the telekinesis ability which is way more interesting than just using firearms. I rarely used any of the other powers though besides the dash and levivtation.

Alot of this game feels like a AAA SCP game which is awesome but I wish the main plot writing had leaned into the aesthetic as much as the world design does.

The DLC for this game was pretty decent and adds some new cool, albeit very situational, powers that you can use.

Overall, very fun and interesting game. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoyed Remedy's previous game "Alan Wake" or to anyone looking for a fresh new third person shooter experience.

Ambition and style carries Control but it's ultimately weighed down by some repetitive gameplay, lack of answers & clumsy map structure.

A wild trip of a game. Blew my mind with crazy visuals and a story worthy of the Twilight Zone. Can't wait for a sequel!

From a gameplay and creativity standpoint, this game is cool as hell. The story has a few cool moments but I found almost every character (besides the janitor) to be pretty bland. The powers you get are awesome though.

This game is odd, the art direction is very unique and cool, the music is also pretty neat. The story starts off pretty interesting but the intrigue fizzles out after a while and the ending feels pretty anti-climatic. The gameplay is good i think but there are some gameplay sections that take so long and are so annoying to finish which also links in with another complaint that the checkpoints in the game are soooooo bad. There is also a significant amount of stuttering on the ps4 during combat sections. The combat itself can be very fun, the destructible environments are really impressive and the telekinetic powers are fun as hell to use. Facial animations and dialogue can both sometimes be quite janky. The ashtray maze section is quite exceptional though.

There are some cool-ish gameplay elements but the plot and characters were BOOOOORING.

2 stars are from the dope atmosphere and powers and writing and shit. 3 stars are from Casper darling dancing in his underoos

This game is a TREAT.
Trippy, exciting, fun, great action, awesome world building, the dude who voiced max payne is in it, it has it all
A huge loveletter to the SCP Foundation, twin peaks, the x files, every good thing ever

I would give it a 4.5 if it didn't run like SHIT on ps4.

Gorgeous and graceful, Control's main issue is a lack of confidence. Despite a stark world of oddities worth seeing, you can't help but feel bogged down by the game's core loop, seemingly designed for those who wouldn't last a minute in The Oldest House without a breadcrumb trail of loot to the finish line.

Truly a fantastic game with wonderful presentation. The issue that's holding it back on console is the performance, which artificially ramps difficulty and creates a visually inconsistent presentation. I will be playing this again on Steam when it releases later this year, and hopefully by then I can give this game the accolades it deserves.

The bosses are Very Bad, and the gun play wears thin, but I can forgive all that for how great the powers, environment, and world building in this is.

I can't remember the last time I was so caught up in a game. Perfect for me from start to finish. Game Mechanics / World Building / Story / Athomsphere.
A masterpiece.
I will never forget it.

Control mainly works as a stellar tone piece. The combat works, and tossing stuff at foes remains fun throughout, but where the game really shines is the notes and the exploration. More of that in the future please.

Played on base PS4. Even after the patches this game was a technical mess for me with serious frame drops and slow down at every other fight. I had lag when I opened and closed menues.

And the gameplay was mediocre too.

The aesthetics and general ambience are absolutely inspired here. A true feast for the senses. Also really enjoyed Jesse as a protagonist. She has a ton of personality/charm. Unfortunately, I'm not so sure about the rest.

The combat here doesn't feel too far off from what Quantum Break was working with. It's much more fluid this time around which goes a long way but the performance gets in the way. The game really struggled on my PS4 Pro and with combat being so hectic and often difficult it got to be a lot after a bit. The checkpoint system didn't help things, some difficulty settings or just general options could've been nice.

As it is, I feel the same way as I have with previous Remedy titles I've played. Okay to good but not great gameplay with some missteps. The surroundings were otherwise so nice here that I'm able to look past it a bit more than usual. This could've really been a big time favorite if the game felt as good to play as it otherwise did to consume.

Fantastic. Not sure why this has loot or terrible boss fights

I love everything about this game except for how poorly it runs on consoles.

Excellent, mind bending story and wonderfully trippy visuals, bogged down by a solid combat system that you never need to use to its fullest, level design that discourages the fast paced gameplay that makes said combat system shine, a low enemy variety and a crippling lack of good boss fights. The presentation, creepy, lonely atmosphere, excellently voiced and written protagonist, and a particularly excellent segment near the end make this game worth playing, provided you don't get too bored with mediocre combat.

Very good game, story is great, gameplay is ok, shooting is fun

SAAAAM LAKE YOU WONDERFUL MOTHER FUCKER SHE DANCES ARROUNND LIKE DYNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMITE

Genuinely one of my favorite games I have ever played. The graphics are gorgeous, the gameplay is next level, and the love that Remedy put into the game just oozes through it's pores.

It's such an interesting and compelling game but it feels let down by repetitive battles. I loved the atmosphere and look of the game like something out of a surreal sci-fi movie. Researching and collecting all the info about the world especially the educational videos were so cool and often times funny. The powers are nice too and powering up to such a powerful being is awesome. I just got bored with the battles a lot times though. I was waiting for them to be over quickly so I could get back to the story and learn more about the characters. It feels like something that would have been better served without those typical fights. It's a shame cause I love everything else about it.

Todavía no me he enterado de nada. Pero el gameplay es una fantasía.
