Great sense of speed and momentum with a stable 60FPS rate to back it up. Good amount of tracks and variety and plenty of content to enjoy, especially for those playing by themselves. Story's cheesy and the voice-acting is hilariously bad, but those are very minor nitpicks. The best and most memorable thing about this game though is the difficulty. It is HARD, even on Normal for both the Grand Prix and Story mode. The difficulty definitely keeps me coming back.

Since F-Zero GX, Nintendo has made time to produce three mainline Pikmin games in-house, and zero non-GBA F-Zeros. Every mainline Pikmin game has sold worse than every mainline F-Zero game.

Now don't get me wrong, I like Pikmin. I like Pikmin a lot... but all of those games are highly similar, so the usual Nintendo reasoning that there needs to be some exciting new gameplay justification for a new entry rings pretty damned hollow here, when a Tetris/Mario/Whatever 99 style online multiplayer high speed high fidelity F-Zero seems like the biggest no-brainer technology-enabled gameplay reason for a new F-Zero game one could possibly imagine, but lets assume for a moment that current online infrastructure, even with rollback netcode, simply could not handle such a thing.

Listen. If the world can't handle the online yet, then just let Sega make an F-Zero Yakuza where Falcon pummels alien freaks and has drinks with Samurai Goroh. I don't even care if there's racing it. Please. Just please... somebody do something. PLEASE.

Absolutely fantastic futuristic racer. The difficulty is high, but I guess I must be superhuman or something because back in the day I managed to beat story mode on the highest difficulty anyway.

every cutscene in this game shows that Captain Falcon isn't a super strong, intelligent hero but instead a bumbling himbo who happens to just keep winning races, and it rules

AhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhHhhhhhHhhHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Probably the best racing game I've ever played, even if I'm garbage at it.

The ideal racing game. The controls are perfect, the track design is the most interesting the series has seen, the soundtrack owns, and the story is the best kind of goofy/terrible that you'd want from a racing game. I've made peace with F-Zero's death because I honestly don't think nintendo could top this one.

I think this is the best racing game ever made, and one of my favorite games. Hard as fuck, but so so so rewarding when you push it. Awesome tracks, awesome ost, the f-zero aesthetic is so cool, a story mode with like one bad mission, and so few games make you really feel like you're hauling ass.
You will never feel like you mastered a track in this game until you hit the point where you're flying outside the map. There will always be more ways to push it, and it's so so good. Please play this game, it's gonna beat your ass but the payout is so good.

This game is like Top 2 best racing games of all time but that single-player mode gave me a childhood trauma that will never be repaired

captain falcon is a 5-star pimp

Probably my favorite racing game. Very difficult single player and super fun split screen multiplayer. I still bring my Gamecube out from time to time to play this with friends. It's aged very gracefully.

Why does it take TWO MEMORY CARDS???!?

Please create an F-Zero battle royale style game with hundreds of players in a single grand prix who will die and retire during the course of the race. I want to see that last place number get higher and higher but with the added subtext of real players getting obliterated by roadside high-speed light combat, track obstacles, and general high speed collisions.

people always get sad about not having a new F-Zero in nearly two decades but honestly i don't even blame them it's hard to follow up on this

Finally finished this on an emulator after wanting to play it for ages. It is an amazing game. One of the best racing games I have ever played. I played through the Grand Prix's and the story mode and I enjoyed it quite a bit. The tracks and music selection for the Grand Prix mode is excellent.

While the story mode is really cheesy with horrible voice acting and rough animation, I find it charming in a certain way. I kinda like how weird and silly it is.

While I do love the game I think I enjoy the original F-Zero for SNES slightly more. I love the simplicity and even the graphics of that game more. And while the music is great in GX, I personally perfer to soundtrack of the original.

I consider myself to be pretty skilled at video games. I've played arcade racers most of my life. However.
I don't understand how more people don't talk about how absolutely bull-shit tough this game is. I respect the hell out of the design, and the mechanics - but the other racers are just too perfect, man. I can't.

The definitive racing game. There's been a few solid racers since that have tried to reach this level of depth and design, but they're still just pretenders to the true king of the racing throne.

Here's to hoping for a new and somehow improved F-Zero game before 2037, unlikely though it may be.

yknow we really dont need another one of these. tf would they even do with a new one, give it online or something? do that many people really play the multiplayer for this? i barely have

Nintendo is so f**ked when they realized Sega made a better F-Zero game.

And even worst when it's the peak

Best racing game all time. free

This is an incredible game and there's nothing quite like it.
The thrill of the speed of the races, with courses so tightly designed and difficult to master that one mistake could be costly and your vehicle flies off the track. The risk vs reward when on lap 2 you get boost power which drains your health in exchange for more speed. The boost mechanic is genius as it adds an extra layer of strategy to the races. Do you boost when your health is low and risk blowing up from crashing into a wall? Do you risk boosting near a corner and fly off the track? It all adds to the intensity that F-Zero races bring. Add into that the ability to destroy other racers by either side or spin attacking them and you have even more power at your disposal. There's nothing quite like catching up to someone and side attacking them into oblivion. All of this makes the standard grand prix mode exhilarating to play through, but this game goes above and beyond for replayability.

Beat a grand prix with a character and you earn a nice little interview scene where you can ask them a question to find out more about them. Why did they become a pilot? What's the story behind their machine? The answers may be short but it adds an extra something to characters that are normally stuck behind the wheel. Not only that though, every pilot in the game has a bio section with a description on them and every single character has their own unique theme. Seriously, they didn't need to do that for 30+ characters but they did!

GX also includes a story mode which does give a nice insight into the actual world of F-Zero, from canyon challenges to bet races, there's a nice little bit of world building gone into the game. Now the main issue with story mode is that even on the lowest difficulty, Normal, it's blooming hard as nails. It will take a lot of patience to get through it but it is a nice thing to have in the game.

There's also unlockable content from the arcade game F-Zero AX, but that requires beating stuff on the hardest difficulty..... or taking your memory card to an AX arcade machine......

This is the ultimate F-Zero, you can tell a lot of love was put into making this game. It may be very difficult and challenging in areas, but if you stick with it, learn the courses and how to handle the immense speed of the vehicles, then you'll find one of the most satisfying racing games out there. It's a shame the series has never stepped into the online era because 30 player online races would be very cool to see.

every1 kneel for da KING has arrived,,,,,, its FZERO GX babey and Im freaking loving itt !

pressing the Y button in this game for the first time when i was 11 fried my brain and basically ruined my taste in games for a long time. it's still one of my favorites but compared to its reputation it's actually way too easy to brute force your way through GP with the right setup (black bull with max speed is easymodo), and only a few of the story mode chapters really hold up. high level play is also incredible but that goes without saying for this series.

Soy incapaz de pasarme el tutorial, estoy seguro de que es un juego excelente pero joder...

I wish I was actually good at this game because it's one of my favourite racing games of all time. The sense of speed in F-Zero GX is unmatched even to this day.

mate
this game is just too hard to finish
what the heck are the last few races.........

Best singleplayer racing game in existence. Finishing F-Zero GX makes you a gamer god with a taste for fine art
