I've played this game since launch and I always come back to it. It's such a casual game and a good switch up from the usual games I play.

I love just exploring the different slime hybrids and I have spent countless hours organizing different sections of my ranch to certain types of slimes or plots for farming.

There's nothing like it and I can't wait for the sequel.

wow............... slimes so pretty...

spent part of early summer 2019 just playing this game. it's very nice and chill, but I do wish there was more postgame. really excited for Slime Rancher 2

This was the first game i got on my new laptop. It was fun but after the story is complete its kinda boring

This was just delightful, an adorable and super addicting farming sim starring a wide variety of slimes. This is the kind of game that you sit down to play for an hour and then you look up and your entire day is gone.

I loved discovering and taking care of all of the different slimes and plants, growing my farm, earning money, the quicksilver slime race minigame, experimenting with slime science, exploring the world and finding keys to open up new areas, it's all done so unbelievably well. The highest praise I can give this game is that it feels like something Nintendo would make.

It's not all perfect though, unfortunately. Fast travel is annoyingly limited, resulting in long walks back and forth from places. The final area you unlock is pretty barren and disappointing. And this might be personal opinion but the story did nothing for me, I think this is a situation where voice acting could've made it a bit more interesting. These are all minor gripes though.

If you're a fan of games like Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley or Viva Pinata, you owe it to yourself to play this game. Don't miss it.

Super cute, relaxing (until you find out what happens when you combine 3 different slimes), and just an awesome time cruncher. I haven't quite finished the game yet, but I will eventually for sure, can't wait for slime rancher 2

There are some things that only videogames can do. For me, Slime Rancher was emblematic of all of them. Where most games do their best to be something else – to tell a story like a novel, to impress with cinematic techniques like a film – Slime Rancher is pure game, a complete and darkly fascinating vision that makes no concessions to the modern conception of how games should be. Instead, it was an exploration of how games could be; how bleak, how twisted, how focused and – most famously – how challenging. Most developers take pains to protect you from failure. FROM Software turns it into an artform.

need to go back and play the dlcs

mei chatin depois de uns 10 minutos

Yes, I keep my ranch as unsustainable for my slimes as possible, how could you tell?

A friend once described the game as being stuck inside a hamster wheel. Oddly enough, I find it fitting to the game's experience: You are continuingly slaving away only for it to circle back to the starting point (it being the slimes). The remnants of its Early Access roots can be felt in every addition the game introduces throughout its playtime: Every feature and area introduced feels more disjointed to the rest of the game than the next. It also doesnt help that the game chugs and runs poorly.
The game's entire design is very orthodox and nothing groundbreaking (seriously I can feel all the gameplay loops seething out of the game): A lot of arbitrary systems thrown together with arbritary conditions to create the illusion that all these systems work together. Yet it only leaves the player confused and frustrated.

"Experiment and have fun" is what they say when you start the game. But really, what is there to experiment? Slimes can only cross once and that's it. Gettin' context clues of the puddle slime being shy and you should pack 4 of them in a pond to maximize your output is stuff that isn't found through experimenting - it's found by looking at a wiki. Using a wiki drastically improved my experience with the game, as I finally had a "path"/a progression to grab onto. The story, tacked-on as it may be, was enough of a carrot to push me forward. I do wish they could've gone the extra mile and made it a bit more... interesting? Idk just having logs and letters doesn't really create that much of a mood for me.

But i dont know... it was still a pleasant enough experience for me. The systems and gameplay loops were enough to satisfy my brain while I was talking with friends on voice chat. It became this cute little time-waster. Sure, while I wish they could've done the game's system a bit more coherent and made the story more captivating, the farming and exploring was satisfactory for me.

Jogo tranquilo e fofinho pra tu relaxar e curtir.

10/10

Divertido mais enjoa rápido

As a NOT fan of farming games and games in that general lane, even I must say that Slime Rancher is nothing special. It has a lot of great elements in it, but sinking over a dozen hours into it, I'm just left wondering: what did I do it for?

Because Slime Rancher is addictive. Right as you start, you want to explore and see what the world has to offer, to find new slime types, to breed them together to get new types, to unlock new regions and new tools to explore the world even more. But, looking back at it, I realize that, aside from some cool slime variants you find later in the game, I've basically experienced most of what SR has to offer in the first three or so hours. Once you get the jet pack, figure out the market and the rewards system, and understand how to take care of different slime types, there is only so much the game can interest you with.

And it's interesting how it tries that, because aside from just wanting to see new slimes, which are all cute and make me happy when I look at them, there is a..."story" for you to sink your teeth in. I put it in quotes because SR's story is one of the most baffling things I've ever seen in a videogame, and makes me question the dev's priorities. Picture this: you're playing a kids game about owning a slime farm. You plant crops and see them grow, you feed them to your slimes, you see them smile and wiggle happily. Then, you see a notification: you've got a letter from Casey. You go back to your humble abode after a day or two of exploring around, and when you check your mail, you read a story from your ex-girlfriend who is contemplating the fact that you two broke up because you wanted to travel a 1000 light-years to become a slime rancher. What? So, this person I'm playing as...did all that? That's her motivation? Wait...what IS her motivation?

As you engage with the story of this game, these question just start flowing in, and you realize both how little you care and how cool in would've been if there was more of that stuff. Because, again, there's not much to Slime Rancher, there's no point to your adventures or explorations, and all the roads are pretty much dead-ends. Once you're finished with the last region, which was pretty great and intriguing, you're not rewarded with anyting aside from a continuation of some weird b-plot about a guy who was the slime rancher before you, which you probably won't care about in the slightest.

It's not that the writing is bad, it's just that the premises and how they were acted upon feel so disconnected from your actual playthrough of Slime Rancher. It feels weird that Beatrix is even a character with a name and a supposed dream, because she's completely non-emotive and silent, and any attempts to make her a real person feel like weird fanfics a 12-yo playing this game would write about it. And again, I would love for these elements to be good, for Beatrix's motivations to be mine, because maybe then I would want to play this game more. For 13 hours it felt like I was working towards something, but in the end, it doesn't even matter, and any story-related elements of Slime Rancher felt tacked on and poorly thought out. I could've manipulated the plort market as much as I wanted, but at the end of the day I feel like I wasted my time with this game.

And it's not that iit's not fun, once again. It's just not satisfying to see through. I hope that the sequel finds more ways to engage me, and maybe flesh the characters out more. I WISH we could just have a character creator and not be linked to this weird blank slate-not really deal, but eh

Really.... exceeded my expectations. So, so much. As a casual player, I really love this so much. It's cute and fun, nothing but a good time. I love the minigames, exploring new areas - Which, adding onto, surprised me SO MUCH in this game. I was seriously hesitating on buying it because of one or two short gameplays I saw and expected it to be really short and just.. plain boring. I ADORE how big the map is (in comparison to other regular, grow-your-cute-farm style games) and how free you are to go.. kinda anywhere. - discovering new species and messing with slime science.. so so good. Probably one of the few games i refused to hover the wiki unless i finished it COMPLETELY. Though.. like any game, it isn't perfect. I can't bring myself to dislike it, but I care too little about the "lore" in it. I think VAs would change that, but it's probably a personal preference.. I also dislike how some of the slimes can easily lag your game, which made me refrain from farming certain species :(. Besides those, I really really like this game so much. If you're into games with simple mechanics and little side-lore, I really reccomend this.

A really good stress reliever. I can see why it's super popular as it's the perfect chill game. It's cute, addicting, and calming and I really think that everyone can find some enjoyment from this game.
