I have had the luxury to sit back and watch this game grow from back in 2016 when it was in open beta and I first purchased it.
When I buy a game, I like to imagine that every £ that goes into it equates to 1 hour of play time in the game. I believe I purchased this game for around £10-15 so for my money's worth, I would have to play around 15 hours.
I got those 15 hours in the game in the beta alone. Since then, the game has been consistently updated by an incredible dev team who have a strong focus on where they want the game to be going, and I have loved every moment of it.
It's not a game I play very often, I normally just pick it up around once a year, mostly after I watch someone play it for the first time in ages (notably, this time, it was Jerma985), and I am super glad that I did again.
The gameplay is relaxing, but incredibly engaging. The sense of progression in the game just continues and continues to give me motivation to play it. If you really want to have a game to play in the background to relax, I cannot recommend this game enough.

Slime rancher to me is like Factorio-lite. I'll log on and before I know it, 5 hours have passed just like that. While the game definitely has flaws, they're so easy to overlook the second you lay your eyes on the design of the slimes. The only issue holding this game back is the unfortunate lack of end game content, as the vast majority of it is cosmetic and the automation available to you is too easy to obtain the second you hit late game, and unfortunately it barely ever evolves past that.
What a cute game! You sure are a slime rancher! It rarely holds my attention for more than a day or two at a time, but I always have a very pleasant time in this game's world. One of these days I'd love to get far into the game, but I'm always content to just explore a little, raise some goobers, and enjoy the scenery.
Whatever you do, don't play it on the Playstation. I weep for my eternally lag-ridden slimes that will never know the warm of a PC. Cross-saves when...
Anyway, adorable, affordable for what it offers, and an interesting spin on farming. Basically, what if your animals... had lore? Oh if you're neglectful they fuse into an unholy abomination and in their hunger pangs they try commiting manslaughter.
So cute, though.
