Playing through Wuppo served as an excellent substitute for feeling the warmth of my parent's love

Charming, but I got kind of bored. Not a bad game, just not for me.

While short, only about 4-5 hours if you're not aiming for 100% completion, Wuppo is a great game that's a bit reminiscent of Paper Mario. It can get a bit nonsensical at times in terms of story, but as long as you don't mind that, it's worth a quick run through. There is one dungeon that definitely could've been easier to figure out exactly what you're supposed to do, but other than that, the game is somewhat straightforward and well done.

Completed with 100% in-game progression. Another wonderfully charming game, though in a somewhat different way, Wuppo is a 2D platform/adventure ('Metroidvania', perhaps?) game set in a world inhabited by a number of Kirby-like 'blob' creatures; in particular the game follows an exiled 'wum' in the search for a new home. As the game progresses, it does a great job of laying out its strange world, with an impressive amount of background lore to discover and the initially slightly 'amateur'-feeling low-res graphics come to feel very fitting, helping to heighten the world's strangeness. There's a enjoyable variety in the tasks that you'll need to take on to progress, from the mainstay of twin-stick shooting combat through to distributing newspapers and fishing - the game does a lot with quite a limited set of tools. To raise just one niggle, if you want to seek out 100% completion/collection after beating the main game, this can get a bit tedious in one respect, as you'll need to earn a decent chunk of money for a few things and there's no particularly quick and easy way of doing so. Besides this, though, there's a nice in-game clue system to help you towards full completion, which helps to balance out the potential 'grindy' element.

gaining health when people compliment you is actually so genius let npcs be wholesome

play this game NOWWWW !!!!!1111!!!

Quite possibly the most underrated game ever made imo.
As someone who drops every metroidvania placed before him, it takes a lot for a game of that genre to keep me going.
Wuppo is held up by its surprisingly deep lore (seriously), its great gameplay, incredible graphics, and incredibly random gameplay.
I don't wanna sound like a loser, but this game is a "treat".

this game also changed my life but to a lesser extent

Wuppo is just so delightful. I love it. It's even in my top 5 games. I love it so much.

This is one of those hidden gems. I love the references to real world problems while covering them with it's cartoony atmosphere. I am also glad to announce that I am one of the translators of this entertaining game.

"A Charming, Funny, Above Average Adventure Game"

Wuppo - Definitive Edition is a unique, colorful, and cute little game. It has many mechanics within it, ranging from light RPG systems to a surprisingly detailed world, and even includes a decent amount of fighting and some platforming. I personally got a little tired of it, but it doesn't mean that the title was bad by any means.

The game is very open in terms of its story, while there are generally objectives to complete within this title, you are able to travel around the semi-open world and complete various activities and meet different creatures. I found the lack of direction sometimes to be frustrating, since it would only say to "find x item" or "complete y objective", but I assume it is because some goals can be accomplished in different ways. This freedom is nice for an indie game that I assumed would be a basic platformer, but it is pretty rich in content.

The world is definitely larger than I expected in this title, with an entire city to explore, an well-sized apartment complex, and multiple types of areas ranging from a jungle, to an underground tunnel, to a chain of islands. There are a LOT of items in this game, and most seem cosmetic, but the options are there for those who want to grind out money to try different outfits/items out. I thought the opening section was fun, with a good platforming sequence and a couple of cool boss battles, but the middle stretch of the game is where I got bored personally. I didn't like the fact that multiple odd jobs would have to be completed in order to progress the story, and it dragged the gameplay to a screeching halt. This was disappointing because I felt the game had a cool style to it, but it runs into the issue of trying to do too much without fleshing any one thing out.

Wuppo - Definitive Edition was an interesting game to try out. While I didn't get a chance to fully complete it, I found it to be an interesting experience nonetheless. The game has a boatload of systems, yet doesn't flesh out any one particular aspect out very well. If it cut a few areas and streamlined the objectives needed to be completed, I feel I would have enjoyed it more than I did, but to each there own. I will still Recommend this game, as it provides enough diversity and uniqueness to its gameplay, despite it not hitting the right notes for me. Give this title a try, and you might end up finding your own personal hidden gem!

Final Verdict: 6/10 (Above Average)

Hit a badly designed puzzle, got frustrated, and DNF'd. Wasn't finding it all that entertaining to begin with (maybe I just don't get the Scandinavians) so no great loss.

i sucked at it but it was cute

I probably won't return to this. Metroidvanias are just so hard for me to get into, especially when wandering through the world isn't really qualified by either collection or a cohesive central objective. Maybe I'm just a bitch that hasn't unlocked the joy of exploring a world for the sake of it, but idk. I know for sure this wasn't the one that did it

One of the few games that truly deserves the title of "hidden gem", this game is criminally unknown. With fantastic writing, a nice art style, great soundtrack, and simple but fun gameplay this game is just an all around classic imo. i have a problem of dropping RPGs and metroidvanias midway through playing them, so the fact this one kept me hooked through the whole journey is a testament to its consistent high quality.

couldn't finish cuz of a bug 💔😭
