This game might as well only have one mode. The normal and top-down races are fine, but get old very quick, since it doesn't have the mechanical depth of other racers that keeps you coming back. On the other hand, City Mode is one of the greatest ideas on the GameCube and I could easily play it for hours without getting bored.
People always talked about City Trial, but the Air Ride mode is also very interesting with it's very unique progression system.

Such a great childhood game. Probably my most played on my old gamecube just running around in the adventure mode whatever it was called. Great modes and racing is a blast but I never got to play with friends :(
