someone wake me up in 500 years

Iconic game start to finish really. I knew about the words Necromorph and Ishimura when I was like 8 years old, terrified of anything with jumpscares, and no concept of gore.

Also the part at the end got me and I'm so upset I forgot about it

(Y me sacó algunos sustos).

I know space station horror games aren't exactly original, but I found this game very enjoyable. More games should just let the player scavenge through a scary space ship with monsters that need to be chopped up in order to kill.

Bonus points for the satisfying feeling of stomping on an item crate.

I don't play horror games... except apparently if it's coated in sci-fi atmosphere. Jokes aside, this really is an amazing game. It felt more like playing through the first Alien movie than Alien Isolation is.
9/10

The Thing on a space station. Perfection.

Dead Space has aged like a fine fine fine wine in my head, from the atmosphere to the gameplay just mwah chefs kiss.

While it might rely on jump-scares a bit too much, Dead Space is still an incredible horror(ish) shooter with incredible gameplay, great levels, phenomenal designs and a solid story.

I still don't know why the space is dead :(

Entering the menu instantly gives you idea of what are you gonna go through. And intro is even better. Very well settles up the ground for our crew and the thrill of exploring dark corridors on abandoned space station. And that intro is probably one of my favorite beginning of video games ever. Very well creates the atmosphere and from time to time got the feeling that developers tried to do some kind of criticism on capitalism, basing on ads on spaceship and FUNCTIONING SHOP on fucking abondended spaceship that ain't even able to communicate with outer world. But idk, maybe I'm just overthinking cuz this theme feels barely touched.
Unfortunetly after around first hour game from adventure/horror becomes RPG and horror isn't terriying anymore. Also story was almost absolutely cut, so everything that's not the beginning and the end lacks the pacing, making the gameplay a bit secondary.
But going through mass of aliens, chopping them with very varied types of weapons is very pleasant. Upgrading gear actually matters and is very straightforward.
Maybe if it had more plot, and more similiar to beginning gameplay without many unimportant mechanics (telekinesis) I would give it a 10. But still very good game and probably I was just expecting something different.

When it comes to horror games, there's been a decline in quality since the Playstation 2 and forward with very few games holding up to previous standards.
One of those games is the original Dead Space, which not only is on par but far surpasses even some of the best horror games of the past and does so while paying tribute to tried and true horror masterpieces such as Alien, Resident Evil and more.
The serie would sadly degrade due to EA meddling, but the original game remains a masterpiece.

One of the more perfect survival horrors. Sci-Fi horror done correctly. Gives big vibes of Event Horizon and Alien franchises. Very well done. Best survival horror since the original resident evil.

Issac never really talks but the game speaks volumes. After some thought, I think this game has the best atmosphere out of any game I have played. It nails that Alien vibe of being isolated in the middle of space.

probably one of the better versions of space horror

A masterpiece in science fiction horror. One of the most unnerving and horrifying games I've ever played. Awesome.

A classic with genre-defining visuals and atmosphere, you can't beat it.

Issac Clarke is a stronger man than me.

You like RE4 but wanted some more actual horror to it? Well here you go. Just wish some of the jump scares were more effective they're kind of lame
