This game was also quite popular back in the day. A lot of people who enjoyed playing Terraria and Minecraft back then probably at least heard of this game or tried it before.
The game has extremely charming aesthetics. It just radiates uniqueness that is not found in many other games. Having attempted this game so many times, I can confidently say the reason every time I return is because I really enjoy the beautiful visuals and the general vibes within the game. The game does a pretty good job portraying a storyline of you against a hostile world.
Unfortunately, the rest of the game is rather stale. Foraging can be a fun experience but many times you have to think really far ahead in order to prepare things properly for the upcoming seasons. Some would argue this planning aspect is what makes the game fun, yet I find it to be a great chore and often find myself frustrated for not being able to find beefalos to make coats for the winter. I also really dislike the combat system. Before you get used to it, it is very confusing and frustrating to use. After you get used to it, it just feels like a great hassle and is not fun at all. I simply do not enjoy making countless well-timed attacks just to bring down a giant walking tree.
Don't get me wrong, the game is definitely fun. I have seen so many people willing to put hundreds of hours into the game. So if you want to try it, give it a shot! Just get Don't Starve together on steam as I think it includes the single player package.
