Its peak (I hated every second of it)

i actually hate myself for pretending i liked this

Honestly my only problem with the game is that about 70% of your playtime is going to be spent in the same small area of the map. Besides that, this is an incredibly philosophical game that executes its idea very well. Also I only got mad during my playthrough of this once and I tend to get pretty frustrated at games so I have no idea what yall are on about

I did indeed not get over It with Bennett Foddy. :(

Rating it 2.5 because I can't decide if it deserves no star or five stars

Subir essa montanha foi uma experiência única.

I played Fear & Hunger right before but foddy made me lose it harder

This game was featured in an exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art.

the miserable narrator explaining the point of the game to you the entire time is enough to shift my perspective of this game from a vaguely interesting piece of endurance art to a smarmy and self-rightous wankfest

I can beat this in under 10 mins, thank you bennet foddy

I’m sure this game is great but I literally got so stressed out playing it I felt like I was gonna pass out and die.

Love to see wholly original gameplay such as this, requiring the player to use a mouse as though they had never touched one before and the learning progression of these mechanics is greatly satisfying. It's rare to see, but with this originality it earns its commentary on fickle consumption and persistence and wears it valiantly.

I haven't beat it yet but I can't deny it's good but AHHHH

The first and last actually fun game in the Foddy-like genre.

I'm going down this road feeling bad 🎵
Of course it's super hard and rough and punitive and all.
But also ... It's surprisingly genuine and touching in a subtle way ?
I powered through because I was too stubborn not to see the ending. And I'm so glad I did ...
Insanely difficult though, not for everyone.
The only rage game I finished and maybe the only one, I loved it <3.

Alright, guys, I can't add it to IGDB due to their rules, but I just played the griffpatch Scratch demake/remake of this game, and, holy shit, it's like if this game was actually good.

This is probably one of my wildest takes yet, but hear me out. Switching back and forth between the Scratch remake and the actual game it's imitating is night and day.

The Griffpatch remake feels so much better to control while still asking a lot of dexterity from the player (much more friction, and hammer movement doesn't have a noticeable delay), with the bonus of feeling a whole lot less cynical and combative. The narration is largely about the creation of the game itself and fighting with the Scratch engine, which is a lot more directed and triumphant than the bitter and dour free-association rambling of this. Another really striking difference is the usage of bright Scratch assets instead of assets reminiscent of Unity asset store shovelware, which does a lot in terms of invoking a sort of hopeful and optimistic naive creativity, rather than the unfeeling and gloomy energy exuded here.

I played a bit of the Scratch version and thought "oh this is actually pretty good, maybe I should reappraise the original", so I booted it up, and I'm sorry, it's just absolute dogshit to control. Weird mouse acceleration settings, the hammer slips around on literally everything, and you can accidentally launch yourself with nothing more than a sneeze. I mean, I guess that's the modus operandi here, but I just never could get over that initial frustration, even as I had climbed higher. I just never really felt like my mistakes were my fault (which is the intended result), whereas there it was much easier to understand what I did wrong and what I could avoid next time.

Highly recommended if you want a version of this without hate or malice in its heart.

Kind of lame game that really just "won" as ragebait and as a tuber game. Controls like shit and plays at being witty or smart but completely fails in both. Annoying for all the wrong reasons and no real reason to play it.

Yeah girl this ain’t it. If it was hard on the computer with a mouse, now I have to be extra precise with my fat sausage finger and a small touch screen. It’s not how you’re supposed to play the game.

(Speed running Apple Arcade until my free trial ends)

do not want to look at this game ever again
