(Played Master Collection version)
Man... everyone told me. Everyone told me this would be one of my favorite games of all time. And they were absolutely right.
It's extremely hard to make a game this perfect in every area. A game where the gameplay and the story are both this good is such a rare occurrence but this really is one of the most perfect games I have ever played.
So the gameplay is absolute fire, but the story... I have no idea how Kojima topped MGS2, but he did. This is easily one of the most complex games ever made, with such a crazy amount of character dynamics, psychologies, tons of intertwining and unique themes, parallels, and plot threads that all get thoroughly explored with nothing left even the least bit underdeveloped. And all with Kojima's patented Movie-Quality Directing™, Crazy Twists™ and Meta Video Game Elements™. There's also the badass action movie sequences and even the best soundtrack out of the trilogy, for what that's worth.
The word "masterpiece" shouldn't be overused, and can't be awarded to a lot of games, but this is one of them.

Definite contender for the greatest game of all time. Absolutely phenomenal story with possibly the most emotionally impactful ending of any game, with some of the greatest stealth gameplay to this day. This is one of those games where I find it hard to say too much because everything about it is just so good, that I feel like anything I would say wouldn't quite do it justice.
"I AM, THE END"
"THE PAIN, THE PAAAIN, THE PAAAAAAAAAAAIN"
"THE FEEEAR"
"I am - The Fury...! The flames of my rage will incinerate you! I came back from space, and as I returned, I had one vision... The world set ablaze! And do you know what I saw there?... Fury! A great and terrible fury at being alive! Now you too will feel the scorching heat of that horrible blackness!"

Every time I play one of these games I’m always like ok they’ve gone too far and they’ve ruined it but once I get into it I realise they can still compete at an amazing level. The stuff they add in is really fun too like the menu addition gives you more freedom to what you can do.
The game still flowed really well, and I think the expansion of the cqc makes it so you don’t just feel like you’re running through the enemies but you can use different strategies in different ways to achieve your goal.
Decent story too I think it caps off the original trilogy in a great way because i would have much rather seen this than extension of 2 because it does connect them in a way that works well.
I’m really iffy on where to put this to be honest, in terms of it being ahead of it’s time it’s definitely the best because how did this game come out on ps2 but then again I think I had a better time with the other 2 games just because I didn’t put as much time into this as I could have.

"I'm still in a dream, snake eater"

MGS3 is like the best parts of 1 and 2 combined. With the setting mostly taking place in a jungle, compared to the previous games being in buildings, I was quiet surprised by how well they made the game around the setting. Especially with the added survival system of stamina, food, and medical supplies. I was worried it was gonna drag the game down, but they didnt really impact it much at all. If anything, it just added more immersion to the jungle setting overall, it was quite simple to keep up with, especially since the game just throws resources at you. The story is still Hideo Kojima's batshit insane worldbuilding and the dialogue is so fucking funny. Hideo Kojima made yet another masterpiece.
