I swear, if I could afford a better PC, I would play the shit out of this game.
Yeah, I’ve watched a few Vtubers. And? Well it just means I understand the references in this game. The Hololive fanbase is simply built different. They consistently create high-quality fan works, this game definitely being one of them. There is just an ungodly amount of effort here, and the game is free!! (I know it’s because of the way Hololive/Cover as a company works but still that’s wild)
If you don’t understand any of the references, it’s still such a fun time that could keep you busy for HOURS at a time. It’s incredibly addictive. Not to mention there’s a giant list of achievements and upgrades, though I wouldn’t recommend trying to 100% this game. It’s.. it’s a lot lol.
The best part? It’s still receiving updates. The next one is just a few days away from the date I’m writing this, which is adding an entirely separate mode! WITH A FISHING MINIGAME AND EVERYTHING! I have mad respect for the Hololive community. o7

I went into Holocure with pretty low expectations but I'm pleasantly surprised with how competent this is. There's so much content in this for a what is essentially a free passion project game, and the whole package has a cutesy, charming style even if you aren't particularly into Hololive/vtubers.
The gameplay has a lot of the problems inherent to the Survivorlike "genre", such as the lack of manual attacking making the player feel like they lack a meaningful connection with what's going on (at least you can manually aim here) and a lot of progression systems on top of progresssion systems that can't help but feel cynically designed and predatory in terms of the player's time. Holocure manages to spice things up with a massive cast of mostly balanced characters, genuinely interesting upgrades and synergies that change to an extent how you play the game, and a wide variety of stages with a lot going on to keep you on your toes.
There's also the Holo Home mode, which is a collection of minigames and customisation tools in the style of one of those comfy farming games people like such as Harvest Moon or Stardew Valley. I'm not really interested in this mode personally but it's still nice as a change of pace.

Look if I'm going to be honest I would say that I have a negative interest in vtubers. I don't watch them and actively avoid them. I don't know a single person in here outside of the funny dog lady and the White Woman.
But I can't deny the amount of love and passion put into a free game that honestly rivals Vampire Survivors in my eyes. So many characters, so many items and unlocks, a heap of bonus minigame stuff, great art, solid music. I especially love that each character's main weapon is unique to them and they have special unique skills as well. That solves the biggest issue I have with Vampire Survivors where the characters didn't really matter and I all built them the same way, with whatever was OP. Here I have to think more and play to their individual strengths.
I downloaded this on a whim and played it for 8 hours straight and will probably put at least another 30 in, if not more.

Vampire Survivors but with Hololive Vtubers, it's a great fangame! The roster is pretty huge, the OST isn't bad and there's a decent amount of weapons/items to unlock. Overall I would say anybody could have a decent time playing this game, the difficulty isn't bad either.
My only gripe is the AWFUL achievement grind..

This game is actually so great. If you like Vampire Survivors, you should definitely check this game out. Regardless of whether you're a Hololive fan or not (the only benefit of being a fan is understanding the references anyway), it has so many mechanics that it has borrowed from other nonVS-type games that make it so fun to play.
(I do encourage that any non-Hololive fan, or more specifically non-Vtuber fans, check them out! There isn't that much difference between regular streamers and the Holos other than they're corpo, but that isn't meant to be a slight against them. And, if live streamers aren't your thing, there are always clips.)
This could be bias speaking but, I genuinely prefer this to VS. If you're tired of dying or just playing the main content, you can redirect your attention to the Holohouse feature. The best part is that you can still earn coins in this mode via fishing--- you can still upgrade your stats, do gacha, go farming, customize your house. The area is not finished yet either, so personally I can't wait to see what else Kay Yu has in store.
This game is such an incredible labor of love. I am in awe of what people can do.

I had accepted that the "survivors" genre (for lack of a better descriptor; someone get on that) simply isn't for me despite having a lot there that really should appeal to my tastes, but Holocure is the first of its kind that actually sorta-kinda has hooks in me. While it still doesn't really push back as much as I'd like and some of the upgrades can still be pretty flaccid, the variety of content (especially the amount of playstyles!) here really go a long way towards making the game feel fuller. And I'm not even a huge Hololive guy, but this thing is absolutely swimming in personality compared to most games in the genre. Not to mention it's free! Definitely worth a try just for that.
Vampire Survivors, but free and the characters distinct. A later update added Holo House, a game mode I don't much care for.
Thanks to the fact that unlike in Vampire Survivors who start out with a predefined loadout you can randomly chance on as a character, in Holocure, each character has their own weapon which you can invest in and each weapon operates differently. You have Mumei and her homing feathers when they hit a target. You have Kronii who uses her clock swords to stab at the nearest enemy (and another one to stab at a random enemy).
The game falls apart at high level play, because the game is much easier when you ditch all the other weapon slots to limit rng and just invest in your starter weapon, plus a few combos which provide you heals or enemy slowdown.
Some combos are actively detrimental versus their base weapons too.
Then again, for the price of free, the game is incredibly polished. You won't lose anything but your time if you play this game.
