This is an open-source project attempting to replicate both the Guitar Hero and Rock Band franchises for the PC. It excels in this, and you pretty much have access to all the songs you want since you can just download them. You might have to dig a bit since I won't tell you how in this review. :)
This would be the definitive music game, but there is one major problem that renders it all but unplayable for most people: There is a serious lack of compatible controllers. A simple Rock Band guitar isn't enough--you also need adapters, and specific kinds of guitars in order to play it. For drums, you also need extremely rare/expensive adapters or an equally expensive e-drum kit. If you already have one, it is plug and play for some kits which is very nice. Still, it'll cost you about $150 if I remember correctly.
Hopefully the new Rock Band peripherals releasing in 2024 will give people an accessible entry point for this definitive rendition of beloved rhythm game franchises. If they do, this will likely be 5 stars.

Why the actual fuck did they decide that of all the games Guitar Hero 3 was the engine and hit detection to emulate. Oh yeah, because if they didn't all those stupid kaizo charts would be literally impossible.
And that's not going into all the missing Rock Band features, or how the high score system lacks the most basic features...
I haven't tried YARG yet, hopefully it's better.

As a Bemani/BMS simp, I would kill to have a client as slick and easy to set up as Clone Hero. Customization of elements of the UI is really easy to tweak. The game supports multiple instruments competently. Song packs are easy to find and cover ever commercial release from GH/RB and even more fanmade selections.
As much as I adore the Komoney in house artists and the days worth of music they've produced, I'm sorry, it's nice to have a rhythm game that has shit that people in my personal life have listened to before. It's not like you can boot up Pop'n Music and play Ace of Spades.
