Honestly my favorite one in the series

! MonsterHunter-like !

great sequel for the perfect game with some flaw but its still the masterpiece!!!

I know it's a hunting game but this has way too more content than actual good context. A lot of these missions are throwaway missions w/ the same mobs, just a different location.

Although this is a review for God Eater 2, it applies equally to every installment in the series. (Come to think of it, each sequel seems to be literally the exact same game re-released with a new story, tweaked graphics, some new character creator options and possibly other fringe additions.) The premise is you use oversized cosplay props to tickle dinosaurs until they melt.

Actually that is hyperbole. After creating my character, most of my time in the game was spent in the lobby and viewing cutscenes. What little hack and slash there is is incredibly mediocre. The weapons have no weight. The enemies do not react to your blows. They actually had the audacity to include a gun form as a momentary power-up state rather than a permanent option. So your reward for your mediocre hack-slashing is to be able to play a mediocre third person shooter, but only for a few seconds. You have the option of 8+ different elemental bullets, that all do the same damage, seemingly for the sake of convolusion.

Aside from slashing you can pick up glowy bits on the ground. You can get these from defeated monsters too. These probably don't do anything. They're just items/loot in the abstract. It's apparently a thing RPGs do nowadays, possibly out of laziness or whatever.

honestly, even though this is generally a good game Idk if I would've finished had I not already invested so much time into it I felt I had to. the missions are just too repetitive and the menus are terrible there's just a lot of friction for what could just be a more fun casual version of Monster Hunter, also for a "remake" of sorts this feels too much like a PSP game the game does get better at the "rage burst" part of the game aka the new content to this version which I did for the sake of getting the true ending but that's like saying the game gets good after 30 hours
the soundtrack is pretty good though

Amazing game, plus the purchase comes with an updated version of the first game for free!

I enjoyed the story a lot (Romeo's death was sad and unexpected, my boy didn't deserve this!); the game itself also gave me Dauntless/Monster Hunter vibes (gameplay-wise) - hunting down giant monsters and breaking their parts for materials to craft; the intro/ending anime cinematics are on point; the soundtrack is amazing (Yuno's voice too!); the craft part is nice, we can make weapons with element attacks to counter certain type of Aragami and make loadouts; the characters were fine, I liked some more than others, really loved Ciel, Gilbert, Alisa, Romeo, Kigurumi, and Licca; the character customization is quite good, with a vast variety of voice packs for our character; there's a lot of missions, content, character missions, and extra/special missions to do; when it comes to bugs the game ran flawless, no bugs at all, at least not in single-player.

To sum up, it's a game that the more I played, the more I fell in love with it.

I'm also looking forward to getting the third game!

GE2:RB is an excellent sequel to GE:R. Upon replaying it, I continue to adore this game as much as I used to but I felt some of the characters and story elements didn’t resonate with me as much as they did years ago. Despite this, it’s still a lovely game. I attribute some of the change to being older so different characters resonated with me differently being 24 now compared to 18. But I would still recommend this game to anyone. And I feel obligated to add that Ciel and Livie are the greatest.

JULIUUUSSS I'M SOOOO DRUNKKKKKK

It has the same problems as the other two in that its got SO much fucking padding but also I just finished and I laughed. I cried. I whooped. The found familyisms. Oh my god. I'm about to start crying again. The gameplay is nothing to write home about but if you love the power of friendship and anime tropes then use wemod to skip the gameplay and play the story.

my other favorite 3.5/5 game
