Weaker than the main game or The Heist, felt a bit devoid of ideas as they just kept throwing waves of enemies at you.

I really dislike Hammerhead as a villain, just super boring

Probably should've run this one through some QA testing, guys

Obviously the combat is still great. Shouldn't have to include that statement but feel it needs to be said when I say that this DLC feels like a a wimper when it could have been a roar.

Yuri's character development is solid, the mob backdrop is cool, Miles enlightens us on what happens if you break a toe. All good stuff.

But the bad really brings it down. This version of Hammerhead doesn't feel intimidating, the ending is ruined by the after credits scene where he is brought back to life by a "checks notes" stun boton? Okay sure, comic logic I guess.... And of course screwball is back and more annoying than ever. If It didn't feel like this story is required set-up for Yuri's character arc in the sequel I would say you should 100% skip it.

John DiMaggio is still the BEST voice for hammerhead and I would have rated this higher if they had brought him back.

wow wasnt expecting this one to be universally disliked

in terms of story and gameplay its a big step up. the focus on the gang war and yuri is a lot more interesting to me than the anctics of black cat, though the ending had another fakeout death lol. i remember it was cool when i played it back around launch, but now it just seems like it's jingling keys in your face, being like ""go buy silver lining!! see what happens next!"

just looked it up, the pass was 25 or 10 dollars for each individually. i wouldnt say theyre worth it for 25 dollars, but theyre pretty good.

anyway i love the focus on yuri and the rainy city atmosphere of it all. this game gets away with a lot of super tense moments for a t rating and i think this is where that peaks. it was super tense seeing yuri pull the trigger on hammerhead... only for it to be retconned a minute later.

the enemy introduced last chapter was used a lot more here, and the side content was actually pretty cool. i willingly did a few hammerhead bases. which are actually the most difficult this replay has been and killed me a few times. the cement mixer fight was awesome, i loved the added stress of the time management to it.

as for the hammerhead boss itself, i said in my base game review that the bosses were the game's biggest weakness. however the hammerhead boss was probably the best one. the added goons that back him up actually make building focus for finishers on him fun, and add a bit of extra challenge. i said the bosses didn't play to the combat loop's best strength's, but in this boss fight they do. crowd control is where this game's combat shines and this boss has that. only other boss this good was martin li. i read a miles review earlier today and it said the bosses were greatly improved upon there, too. we shall see.

wanted to say that the cast is still killing it, they're all great. the calls with miles about spider training were funny. oh and i never realized its laura bailey who voices mj. so much persona cast overlap. oh and keith silverstein voices hammerhead my beloved. man idk how i got so good with IDing dub vas lol.

fantastic dlc, wonder how the silver lining replay will end up.

paia, isso é tudo que tenho pra falar

You know flat earth, now get ready for flat head.

The only thing that deducts points from this is it's shorter than the previous DLC and there's even more Screwball. Besides that, the story is good and it has more fun interactions with Miles.

Turf Wars upped the stakes of The Heist, and was the second chapter in The City That Never Sleeps DLC. It focused more on Yuri Watanabe, shedding light on her backstory as well as her personality. I thought the writing around her character was the best thing about it—seriously, talk about development, if only Hammerhead got the same treatment. Obviously there were more challenges, collectibles and the usual gameplay, all decent stuff.

Replayed from – to: (2022-01-03 – 2022-01-03) – PS5.
‣ 7/10 – Is Hammerheads plate magnetic?
‣ Final notes: Here’s the second part of the three-part DLC Marvel’s Spider-Man has to offer. I am glad to announce there are no stealth section here which is good, because it allows me to just go through the narrative without jumping across perspectives when I really don’t want to. It is nice to see more characters get their narratives wrapped up more or less even though they keep hiding true fates of many important players in the story. First, we get the fake out death of Felicia and now Hammerhead gets reanimated in an ambulance and then the screen fades to black saying to be continued. All of this is fine if they do continue and finish these stories in the third DLC – Silver Lining. If not, then fine I will wait for their return in Spider-Man 2 or Miles Morales, because I still haven’t played that game and have zero knowledge of the story. Overall, this DLC brings nothing new, all the gameplay ideas you know will still be here giving you more repetitive side activities to do and crimes to solve. The story is probably the weakest out of the three DLCs because it focuses more on the gang war itself then on Hammerhead and Yuri.

Screwball challenges suck in this one

Another great story snippet, this one focusing on Yuri, a character I grew pretty fond of throughout the base game. That being said, man did the Hammerhead fight at the end kick my shit in, was the only moment the lock-on really screwed me over beyond occasionally targeting the wrong enemy with a projectile or a stray punch. Ended up dying to Hammerhead like twice because the game made me target him instead of a mook, but it is what it is.
