Easily one of the best Mario games I've ever played, and certainly one of the best Mario ROM hacks I've ever played. Hell, I'd almost even put this over Super Mario: Star Road. The creativity, the charm, the well-designed levels, even the new additions such as the shops and the new challenge houses are all well-made and thought out. I can say without a single doubt that these creators understand Mario and it's design better than almost anyone else. The only things I can think to criticize are the visuals, the re-used bosses, and the absurd difficulty spike that occurs after you reach the space levels – Like you can feel the game go from "normal" to "hard" very quickly, and it just keeps going until near the end where it reaches "testicular torsion." But even there, the game still feels relatively fair, and if you bother to look for the switches and shortcuts, the difficulty can at least be lessened.

But the biggest compliment I can give this game, and the one I'll leave off on, is the sheer sense of adventure the mostly inter-connected world map provides. I'd recommend this game to anyone who enjoys Mario (and who doesn't?) for the sense of adventure alone. Even if not all of the ideas are good, the game never stops trying new and creative things. And I love it for that.

I honestly adored my time with this game while playing co-op with my girlfriend! Yeah there are some funny bits to it thanks to being a fan made game, but the level design was really fun and engaging with many different concepts and ideas used, probably more honestly than any of the official NSMB games. The difficulty isn't very high but some stages in the last two worlds were pretty intense gauntlets, and I think the difficulty curve is really smooth. Also REALLY enjoyed the music, which I was surprised to learn was done by the team themselves! This was the hack I've played all the way through for a game but I think it was lovely.

This is more fun, challenging, and creative than any New Super Mario Bros game. All thanks to fan passion and talent!

how is this better than any official new super wtf

Adoro este hackrom, jodidamente divertido

A pretty damn solid mod of New Super Mario Bros Wii. I really liked the newish level themes, level designs, the re-introduction of the hammer suit, unique bosses (though the final Bowser encounter kinda overstays it's welcome). This mod was a fun breeze to go through.

Very fun and a unique twist on the NSMB Wii experience!

For a mod of NSMBW, dang this game kicks ass! The attention to detail and the meticulous game design makes it very genuine and a very fun game in the end!
Like, this mod has a whole new map that looks magnificient all together, a TON of new textures, enemy retexture, new level themes (like a whole world being in a forest in autumn, another being IN SPACE, WITH THE LOW GRAVITY, HOW COOL IS THAT?!?!), addition of Shy guys all together with ballon shy guys, jumpy shy guys, and more, new unique boss fights that are a bit more difficult to win than in the original game (and then there's the koopalings, which are a joke to beat), new mechanics in each level (like giant pipes, the hammer powerup to beat boos, a train level with gaz smoke that kills you, and so so so so SO much more
There's fricking over 400+ star coins to get!!
And also Lakitu owns a shop now.
AND ALSO MUSIC REMIXES FROM OTHER GAMES!!!
and also new yoshi recolors.

The only BIG default with this mod is that the difficulty is... nonexistent for most of the game (you would lose some lives, but you're really always gonna have ~95 lives on you most of the time) and then comes the 7th world and... Giant difficulty spike.
I swear, I might have lost like a good chunk of lives on one specific level in World 7, then comes the 8th world and it goes back to low. Even the bonus and secret worlds are going without a big hard block!
And also some of the music used is... passable. Some of them are really feeling it's a mod. The boss fight music, or one for main levels (which I think is a remix of World 6th map music in the original game) are really off.

Nevertheless, god DANG it's a good game.

pretty good level design most of the time. the bonus worlds weren't that good though

Played this with my girlfriend and had a lot of fun, honestly way more interesting than anything that was done with the later new super mario bros games

Level design is extremely mid and the new assets are quite ugly and the music is hit and miss, but it's built on NSMBW which was fun originally so it's carried by that

this game is just bad, it lacks identity and everything about it just feels off. All of the new stage elements and world maps clash with every model or base game texture to the point where it looks like the game is trying to achieve multiple different styles at once. Most of the new assets look out of place and the levels are much longer than they need to be with little to no creativity. The music also isn't that great.

I mean this is like the best 2D platformer ever made

Sehr cool

A surprisingly neat ROM hack with a lot of heart put into it, at least way more than the vanilla NSMB games nowadays, anyways.
The level design here is definitely one of the biggest highlights of the game, they are really varied in terms of structure, and many of them have an exclusive gimmick per world, which are really good considering the limited editing tools back in the day.
The music was pretty okay most of the time, but sadly not much past that imo. There were some pretty nice original tunes like "Underwater" or "Fire" but even then, they are not very memorable. Other than that, I also detected a lot of rearrangements of soundtracks from other mario games, like Yoshi's Island, NSMB DS and even damn Wario World, and they are... not that good, I'm sorry :(

Overall, definitely the best New SMB Wii ROMhack out there, and also one I have a lot of respect for, even though I'm not in love with everything it has to offer. Hopefully there will be more updates about the upcoming Newer Deluxe version soon!
