Reviews from

in the past

Oynanmaz. Bir şeyleri bozmuşlar.

As a two-decade-long fan of Tomb Raider, since I was a kid, I waited eagerly and played the new reboot trilogy as they came out. Completed all they had to offer, and played through them again recently.
So finally, with the knowledge of how these games are in their full picture, and with a refreshed recollection of their story and mechanics, I’ll try to do an objective complete review, with hindsight. A perspective of the new trilogy of Tomb Raider. I’ll try to keep it short.

The Shadow of Tomb Raider

Last of the trilogy, this game is the closure of the new origin story of Lara. This game finally answers questions about her upbringing and finishes the forging of the Lara Croft we all know and love. The game builds on the established formula of the previous titles, just like Rise was when it came out.
The story, while well-written and interesting, misses that something for me. It's a less personal story and although it follows after the steps of the previous games, there is a lesser connection to Lara's life in my opinion. It was nice during the story to see how Lara keeps pushing herself even more past her limits putting her in danger and giving her a sort of "reality check" grounding her.
The granular difficulty options are a welcomed addition, allowing the player to customize the experience even further, should you enjoy puzzles and exploration without any hints but don't enjoy combat, for example.
Although they're all very linear games, this title is fully staged near a village that is quite large, nearly open-world. Although, sadly, compared to Rise, because of this approach, there is less environmental variety when exploring as you're primarily in the same place.
The game also features side missions with multiple-choice options, although the option only leads to different dialogues, not different end results. There's also the possibility to barter with vendors, but it's rather barebone. I guess they were both attempts to get closer to the RPG genre, although not needed imho.
Honorable mention goes to the underwater swimming! It was a staple of the series and I was happy to see it back.
Just like in the other titles, the skill trees are back, with a few new abilities. I was taken aback the first time I saw the ability page because compared to the other titles, this menu shows all abilities at the same time, color-coded for stealth, combat, and exploration, so it was honestly overwhelming to see them all at once.
The peak of the games are its puzzles, because they really are the highlight of the experience, with a lot options than the previous titles when approaching them.

DLCs

In an effort to monetize the game more, this title features 7 DLCs.
All of them add a dungeon with an ability as a reward at the end. It's not game-changing stuff, but the dungeons themselves are really fun. Sadly, all 7 are locked behind filler missions to unlock them that are longer than the dungeon themselves, but if you like puzzles and some extra goodies there is no reason not to play them except maybe the length of the filler content before the fun stuff.

Conclusion

In the end, replaying this game made me appreciate it more because I only followed the story my second time around, instead of hunting down every side activity I could find. At first, my opinion of the game was quite negative really, but I'm glad I was able to come around and appreciate this conclusion to the series looking forward to the new games that might come out in the series that really, defined my childhood.
Get the season pass if you enjoyed the puzzles in the game because there is nothing better than more.

7.9/10

20% combat, 80% dicking around until the game ends

I totally understand who considers this game worse than the other two, i particularly like Shadow of the Tomb Raider, but the game does not learn with the past games.

First of all, it looks pretty as the others, in other words, graphics still good and i really appreciate this.

Now, the biggest problem to me: progression. In other two games of this trilogy, you can feel Lara becoming better and in SOTR you feel the same in all campaign.

Unfortunately, the story become worse than Rise of the Tomb Raider. It's very sad, a good story about legacy and discoveries becomes a cliche evil secret organization(It is a problem inherited from Rise of the Tomb Raider).

For me, it's the same level of Rise of the Tomb Raider, have a lot of problems and i didn't expected more. So i'm satisfied, but it's a okay game.

Shadow of the Tomb raider is a classical action adventure game with top quality Hollywood style plot. The game plays well and the progression is well-balanced mix of shooting or stealth sections, puzzles and platforming, talking with NPC's and quick time event style running action sequences. Most of these are well implented, and allow different play styles with good difficulty level. The most annoying I find are the quick-time eventish running scene where you are basically always running from something and have to react to falling things and stuff, they aren't real QTEs so there's no button prompts but you still have to memorise what do on each step and it's usually not obvious at all so it just becomes annoying. The camera is sometimes quite bad and especially swimming is torture. Other than that there is no big problems in the game. The music is top notch and the voice acting is passable. I kind of like using native languages for npc's but calling it immersive is quite absurd, that's not quite how it works in real world.

one of the better "suomise peli" games, but maybe Rise was a bit better in my opinion.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a solid end to Lara's origin story. The jungle setting is gorgeous, the puzzles are challenging, and the combat is brutal and satisfying. The story, though a bit predictable, still packs an emotional punch. Some underwater sections are straight-up terrifying, and the stealth can feel clunky at times. But if you love action-adventure games with tons of exploration, Shadow of the Tomb Raider will definitely scratch that itch.

It was alright, I prefer the Uncharted Series over this. But this is the only Tomb Raider game I have played.

Story 3.2 | Gameplay 4.5 | Audio 5 | Visual 5 | Details 4 | Entertainment 5 | Open world 2.9

Total 4.2

Onesto.

I don't remember a single thing about this game.

Of the 3 of the new trilogy. This one felt the most boring, sadly.

A pretty spectacular adventure the whole way through. Does a great job improving the reasons people continue to come back to this franchise. Everything down to the materials you pick up feels very thought out making this easily the best in the series.

Audiovisual experience is great, the rest, not so much. Best parts were the DLC tombs which is not a good sign.

Imo the best of the new trilogy, really enjoyed this game, story is good, gameplay is fun, graphics are really good. All around very solid game

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the third in the newest rendition of the Tomb Raider series, continuing an ongoing storyline from the previous two games.

The game looks and feels really good, both visually and audibly. Each location is beautifly decorated and all of the cast looks well done. Gameplay is still mostly the same as the other games, but with a few more stealth mechanics that blend really well with the new jungle setting. Also, puzzle and level design is incredible. Each puzzle felt like it was geniusly set up and it was very enjoyable to solve.

The overall story is lacking, playing like the previous games as a typical action adventure movie. After a hardcore gameplay moment, there was always a hardcore cutscene moment that felt overdramatized in some places in the story. There were also several moments of stuttering and other technical glitches, depending on the environment. Also, the lack of a minimap made certain areas difficult to navigate to find all of the artifacts and trinkets.

Overall, it's a pretty fun action adventure game that looks pretty and plays fairly well, but there's not much else going for it, although it was a fun playthrough.

pq q todo tomb raider e bom af

Am I the only one who thinks this is the best entry in the trilogy?
