"The Principal and the Pauper" of Simpsons games. Total ass.

Christmas 2002: An excited 9 year old boy gets his hands on Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly. Were it not for that game being one of the biggest disappointments of my young life, I would honestly say that The Simpsons Skateboarding being the other game I got that day would have been enough on its own to convince me that I had made the naughty list and Santa was getting creative with his punishments. A lump of coal would have been preferred.

The Simpsons had a relatively rocky relationship with video game adaptations (beyond maybe virtual Springfield on the pc and the arcade game) before the ps2, but with road rage released it seemed a little as if the Simpsons might be able to carve a niche of playable and charming (if derivative) titles.

As a huge fan of the tony hawk series, Simpsons skateboarding was exceedingly disappointing. Outside of the school, it contains relatively poor choices & designs for skateparks and the gameplay just feels bad. Similarly, it looks ugly and posseses little of the charm and wit of the series.

Fortunately, the tides would turn when hit n run would release later - but skateboarding will forever be a disappointing stain on Simpsons history.

For skateboarding and license tie in needs, check out Disney skate adventure - which is on the same platform and generally excellent.

The rawest example of "Oh shit I loved this game as a kid, let me pick it up again" to "I'm in so much pain holy shit"

I think they should've been tried as adults

Tony hawk, are you proud of the monster you birthed?

It's a poor man's Tony Hawk Pro Skater, but in Springfield. I would be far more inclined to finish the damn game if it weren't so stiff and unresponsive and, thus, immeasurably frustrating.

It's overhated for sure, but it is so by the numbers it hurts... just like the gameplay and those primitive graphics that make the visuals from the "Homer³" segment from "Treehouse of Horror VI" look like a masterpiece even today.
