fav in the series, the game that introducted me to jrpg

Super cute, one of the few games where I love all the characters

didn't actually get to play this bc i didn't have a pc/console/pspv as a kid but watched playthroughs and naoto changed my life at 13

Persona 4 isn't the most groundbreaking JRPG, but it's one of the best, with a ton of heart, a great OST, great writing and memorable characters, fun combat and character progression, and a compelling mystery at the core of its story.

Hands down one of the best games ever made. Genuinely amazing cast that really makes you fall in love with the experience of having a group of friends that just get thrown into some crazy stuff together. The grinding didn’t feel tedious, the soundtrack was banging, the voice acting is superb, and it’s all around just an amazing JRPG.

I think this game is a lot of fun. I really enjoy the social aspects of it and how the schedule part of the game works. I really like how the player needs to budget their time for specific actions. The other half of the game is the real RPG part of it and I had some fun with it. The strategy is neat and it was actually difficult at times, which was interesting. I also really liked the story.

gameplay didn't age all that well, feels hard to play through if it weren't for the plot

Going back to this after playing golden was interesting, the PS2 version definitely has a different atmosphere. The low resolution and 4:3 aspect ratio fit Inaba incredibly well, and I’m a big fan of the original assets as well, aesthetically I actually prefer this version. However this was also kinda a wake up call to make me realize that I never gave Golden enough credit initially for being a fantastic refinement that makes the game a lot smoother. That being said, no matter how you play it P4 is one of the best RPGs ever made, plain and simple. Incredible cast of characters, super fun combat and dungeon crawling, a super well written story, unparalleled vibes, a killer soundtrack, and the ability to bring massive emotions out of me every single time I play it. I love this game so much

shit its ok... one of those games that i cant really fault for being the way that it is but i just hate how the themes dont really deliver to where I want them to. cant call it bad over that kinda bias imo. banger soundtrack as always tho

I don't like it nearly as much as Persona 3 or Persona 5 and it's still one of the better video games I've ever played. Those dudes at Atlus are in their bag.

If I had the chance to experience this during high school, I legit might have been a persona freak early on. Reach out to the truth indeed. I love this story and cast so much!

Scooby doo ass game but at least it isnt doo doo ass garbage like Persona 3.

People carry a lot of fond memories of this game from their formative years so they are blinded to just how meaningless the "gameplay" side of this game is but if you're looking for le funny banter this game is decent, infact the "friendship" theme is the only thing going for it.

lo he jugado como 6 veces, quiero decir que no me gusta porque es muy malo, pero si, lo hace, me gusta mucho

Kanji, my beloved. Played it twice over and that is quite enough <3

I'm going to save my review of P4 proper when I review Persona 4 Golden, but I will share a few things specific to this version of the game in this review: bullet point style.

This should be a 5/5 game, but because P4 Golden exists, and is a better and more complete game than the vanilla version, that has to drop it just a little to differentiate between the two games.

GameTrailers review led me to purchase this game too... and funny fact, I bought P3 and P4 at the same time both for ~$20 a pop. Best bang for your buck ever - the $$ to hours of enjoyment ratio is insane... And even funnier, I was so JRPG starved at the time, after I beat the 100+ hour long Persona 3, I told myself that I wasn't going to play them back-to-back... I was to only play a little of P4 to test the waters after the incredible experience that was P3 FES... so I played through the first 3 hours of the game late into the night... and I just kept going the next day... I just couldn't stay away or get enough. I LOVED it!

The opening scene is far superior to the Golden version. The song is so much better too.

Shadow Yukiko is a tough SOB and kicked my teeth in - I wish they didn't dial her back and make her much easier in the Golden version. She was a "wake up boss" in vanilla P4.

It's crazy how Atlus released 2 full length, kickass Persona titles back-to-back within a 2-year timespan... it reminded me of the golden age of Squaresoft. I'm sad that both now go so long between releases...

i spent a ridiculous amout of time in this game as a kid since i didn't know you need to grind in rpgs. fuck me i restarted this game like 50 times

The gang are so good, and the core mystery is very engaging.

If you like an absolutely morally repugnant game that forces you to choose between becoming either a theatre kid or a band kid then DNI

A great cute murder mystery, I quite enjoy this one too but it's my least favorite of modern Personas (3,4,5) not because it's bad or there is anything wrong with it, I just don't enjoy it at much, I find the smal town vibe and the happy tone a bit boring sometimes. Quite rare and uncharacteristically happy for this series huh? Either way I played this when my PS3 was back home and I didn't have a laptop good enough to emulate Persona 5 at my dorm, which was the game I started back at Summer, so I ended up emulating this and finishing it just in the month before going back home and continuing 5 the next month lol. Cool game, great characters, I love Naoto. Cool twist, not much else to say.
In some aspects I prefer the lighting (and therefore atmosphere) and the font of this version over Golden but it's nothing I mind too much.

Romanced Yukiko on this one.

If you made Twin Peaks for people who absolutely hated and did not care to get "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me" but also that's kind of fair but also modern-pre-2016-anime-doomsday-clock-video-game but also lol they really do kind of have a Dora The Explorer "oh no! watch out for your shadow" thing going on

Video game: okay

my least favourite modern persona game it's fine as a game and an RPG but compared to 3 and 5 nah I can't connect much with this game's setting and cast

Defined and refined many gameplay and story concepts that Persona 3 created, but added a whole lotta fun and humor. A lot of very DATED humor

tag a friend to totally queerbait them
