this reminds me of how divorced i am from this series now and that makes me kinda sad cause a lot of people i know who are still deep into it are on this. it isn't quite a fear of missing out so much as just remembering a time when i had passion that is no longer there or is otherwise diminished.
otherwise not really a fan of this sort of puzzle cause it feels like trivia with extra steps and less... well, trivia.

I like how if you dare to get even a single one wrong it shows you a sad as fuck Pikachu from that scene in the Mewtwo movie where he kills Ash, but if you get all of them right it just completely underplays your efforts by giving you meaningless percentages to your guesses like "Wow, congrats on not traumatizing Pikachu today by remembering Urshifu the 4th time this week, but you and others 54% also chose him, so try to be more unique next time sweetie💅💅💅💅💅"
Pokemon's pointless, hair splitting, pedantic ass category distinctions between legendaries and mythicals and whatever variation on it they'll come up with next just got a lot more real when it causes me to miss my 9/9 square for the day. Also if anything related to Kalos or Alola shows up on the square its joever for me but Im not quite prepared to play through X/Y and SM to give me an edge playing this silly browser game...yet.
When asked to choose a Ground and Steel type Pokémon, many would choose mons like Excadrill or Steelix, while only a select few will think of Galarian Stunfisk. That is, my friends, what separates the brave from the cowards.
This is quite literally what says on the box and then some; a take on Sudoku in which you guess Pokémon, be it by their types, region, sub-category and more, and it can be a real head-scratcher with how specific it can get with certain combinations in which very few mons fit in. It couldn’t get simpler than this, and it manages to be pretty fun, not only really testing the memory of fans of the series like myself, but also it can get really tricky with having only 9 attempts, meaning you can only really ‘’win’’ by doing it perfectly first try, and the uniqueness stat which really invites you to try to think about mons many others would normally forget about. It just takes five minutes to do it each day and the novelty will eventually wear off like so many games of this style already have proven, but that’s more of an inescapable condition with the kind of game this is rather than a true flaw, hell, the only real gripe I could have with this would be how the original franchise catalogues some of its monsters, and that’s not even a fault of this game specifically.
So yeah, game good! It takes a simple idea and keeps that one while introducing enough to make it interesting and even sometimes funny, and discussing the ‘’doku’’ of the day with others after doing it can be pretty fun and get you to learn facts about the franchise otherwise pretty specific or obscure…
Having said that I have only one request, specifically to Game Freak… MAKE NECROZMA COUNT AS A ULTRA BEAST IN THE GAMES YOU GODDAM COWARDS, IT WOULD MAKE SO MUCH SENSE WHY THE HELL IT ISN’T PROGRAMMED AS ONE ALREA-

I literally just found out about this 10 minutes ago and got 9/9 on my first game. I've realized now the real goal of this game is to pick Pokémon that apply to each category but to pick ones you think the least amount of people playing have picked. The lower the percentages your picks are, the lower your uniqueness rank is by the end (it's like golf) and I think that aspect can be really fun. At the same time, people might have the same idea and a seemingly forgettable Pokémon might be picked by a lot of people. Either way, this is very fun and I can see myself playing it everyday for a while.
Edit: Honestly only played this for a week and forgot about it, still a fun time tho

A fun and unique way to test one's Pokémon knowledge, but without a proper leaderboard or win streak counter, scores feel kind of meaningless, and the fact that you have to get all nine right on your first try feels pretty harsh for one of these web browser guessing games.
UPDATE: They actually added a win streak counter, so that was a pleasant surprise.

i don't really play this that often but when i remember it exists i always have a good time with it. as someone who's a pretty casual pokemon fan that plays through the story of the new mainline game that comes out every few years it's a good challenge of my memory and im pretty sure every time ive played ive failed so it always has me striving to get a win one of these days. the real issue is if you still haven't gotten around to one of the games in this series you're probably boned on a given day's puzzle, had a few times where i just blankly stare at anything relating to gen 9
