This game is so unbelievably ass

im hanging out with a guy lately went on some dates we got some interests in common hes funny and hes super cute and i guess im slowly and steadily falling in love with him

i got this thing when i meet new people that i need to fucking read/play/watch whatever they like because im always interested to see what their tastes are and shit like that so when he told me he liked scott pilgrim i opened the volumes at 9 am and at 5 pm i finished the entirety of the series dont call me a simp already 3 friends called me that im fine with it

so scott pilgrim in itself is a great graphic novel the characters are fun the artstyle is charming the events and story are even funnier and i had a good time with it so no complaints im not a huge graphic novel/western comic fan so it was a surprise how much i enjoyed it

yknow what it felt like a time capsule from a time long gone like some of those cartoons in the 2000s or early 2010s its that kind of vibe i have never consumed any type of scott pilgrim media but i was actually filled with nostalgia idk dont quote me on that tho

long story short scott likes a girl and this girl got some 7 evil exes that want to kill him or whatever so he gotta beat all of them up to get the girl of his dreams

ramona is a great character but i ended up loving knives or wallace and in particular stills way better than the main duo (im a stills kin i got him as a telegram pfp for the moment im that devoted)

so yeah the main story stuff is about that now since i wanted to thoroughly be finished with scott pilgrim i wanted to play this game

DISCLAIMER: i played like 5 beat em ups until now all street of rage games and shredders revenge so my opinion on beat em up is scarce at best for now dont listen to me

its kinda a textbook beat em up with different characters and a coop mode that i didnt have the pleasure to try because i got no friends so all in all i enjoyed my time with it even tho the controls are kinda stiff and having to unlock some basic beat em up moves is kind of a pain and also it absolutely baffled me how hard it was and then i found out that shops existed so i just boosted strength in wallaces shop and i would beat everyones asses frfr

bosses were also p great for this games standars and todd is still the hottest one of the bunch

played as stills ofc and a little bit as scott i didnt try the other characters because i was kinda done with the game already lets be real

gameplay wise thats basically it its a beat em up what do you want me to say the art style is super cute pixelated and trying to convey scott pilgrims style into a videogame and they kinda managed to

ost was particularly great so cant complain on that

my honest criticism apart from the gameplay stuff is that i wanted some more callbacks or easter eggs or like story stuff interactions between character it was very bare bones like you get a character beat every single ramonas ex like in the main story and thats basically it theres some super superficial interactions here and there that you wouldnt even understand if you didnt read the comic but apart from that its made entirely for scott pilgrims fans which is both good and kinda a shame i wanted them to push the game a little further

also i have no idea what this version adds or refines from the base game but i didnt see that many differences to be honest so maybe someone will explain it to me here

not a bad game but its appealing mainly just for scott pilgrims fanbase

so yeah

I really like the spritework on this game, the gameplay... takes a while to like it. Not recommended to people who is into traditional beat em ups cuz you gotta grind sometimes to feel like you're dealing damage or to avoid getting one-shot by the bosses.

Posiblemente el peor beat em up que he jugado, encima muchos bugs, pero el arte es muy bonito

I ADORE the pixel art and music! Playing as Kim gave me gender euphoria :3. But unfortunately the levels fall off in quality and creativity extremely fast after the first one. I know it's because of the development history and the fact a second development team had to come in and rush the game in a few months, but still.

Score: 65/100
Maybe I just dont like beat em ups, because I love Scott Pilgrim

Got almost halfway though the game before realising that you could upgrade your character. That made the whole thing a lot easier icl.

Would only play again with friends tbh, it lacks depth but I enjoy the premise

Really difficult but I love Scott Pilgrim and beat em ups so it was fun anyway

great time, if not a little janky. very hard time even on the lowest difficulty if you arent upgrading your character with wallace's secret shop, and even then it stills kicks your ass from time to time. music goes unbelievably hard and probably the best version of the scott pilgrim story mainly because it barely has anything to do with the scott pilgrim story

Hella tough to finish on your own, but fun and looks amazing.

This game is a weird one. I more or less like the fact it exists for how it looks and the music, but apart from that it's nothing amazing. The game looks incredible due to the impressive pixel art that also manages to imitate Bryan Lee O'Malley's art style at the same time. The soundtrack by Anamanaguchi is the stuff of legend, and I listen to it regularly. Most of the songs are way too catchy and high energy to correlate with the overall mood of Scott Pilgrim.

As for the game, it's clearly a rush job. The first level is steller and sells the game quite well, but then it instantly falls off with most of the creativity shown in the first level evaporating before your eyes. Combat is the exact same every time, with it boiling down to punching until someone is down, punching until they stop blocking, or blocking until they stop punching. You can argue this is just the nature of beat-em-ups, but it compared to others similar to this one, they handle move pools and how fights are played out much better.

This game also has a major balancing issue. You will feel incredibly underpowered and will game over a lot until you buy items from the shops (which you may pass half the time because they blend it with the rest of the background elements sometimes.) However, once you do this, you end up feeling far too overpowered and then the game suddenly becomes a god mod simulator.

Apart from the first boss in the game, Matthew Patel, all the bosses walk around their arena, attack you with the same three moves, flash orange when they're nearly dead, then die. This once again highlights the difference in quality between the game's first level and the rest of the game. Due to the game's hellish development, the first 20 minutes of the game are great, then the rest is just a "get it out the door" job.

Overall this game falls disappointingly short due to it being rushed out, and while it's nice that it was brought back due to everyone begging for it, I think people just wanted it to kind of exist instead of really playing it.

Bounced off this at supersonic speed. So sluggish.

would be three stars if lisa miller didn't look like that

Game was like, ok
Cool sprites but the gameplay got kinda really repetitive after a bit ngl
I will agree with the person below me and say
To me it was okay

me lo pase como 4 veces desde que lo compre es una locura

Great game to play solo or with friends as you play through the story of the main series. Great and funny visuals accompanied by a great soundtrack make this game a worth every penny. now just revive me before the timer goes out there are only three seconds left stop fighting the dinosaur im about to die and i just died now we're gonna lose again all because of you thanks.

I really remember liking this game when it came out, but going back to it was a challenge. The art and music are phenomenal. It's just the act of playing the game that really sucks. The combos don't really flow, and the player can get caught in stun loops. Like most games, it's better with friends. But, there are so many other beat em ups out there.

this is not what the comic is like why is ramona not wearing pants

Excels in the fan service, pixel art, and chiptunes departments, but its beat-'em-up combat feels truncated by unlockable moves, and in general the game slows to a crawl due to an over-dependence on RPG-style grinding. Probably more tolerable in co-op/for fans.

The visuals, the soundtrack and the vibes are perfect with this one

I wish it had crossplay and Ubisoft Connect is so ass, otherwise this game is really great and it's such a shame it took a decade to be able to play it again

got this cuz i love the graphic novel and the movie, not so sure about beat ‘em ups tho

A fun ass beat 'em up with some minute RPG elements to make replaying on new characters that much of a joy. Not too difficult, and the abilities that you learn as you level up each are game changing in making the combat more fluid as the journey continues.
