único problema é que uma partida demora 12 horas mas divertido demais

The disclaimer in my bio is especially important with this review. There are so many Civs and so much about this game hasn't been experienced by me. So, I recently had an opportunity to play Civ V for the first time last month with a group of friends. It was always a very chill time, and while it was indeed a strategy game where everyone was trying to win, it had a decent amount of down time that could be filled with discussion and hanging out. In that regard, Civ V is a great experience.

Civ V is also a great story generator. The grand scope of the game, and the variety of things that can happen and approaches one can take can lead to a lot of stories. One of my friends discovered a tile that was surrounded by three gems and made a rush to claim it as his own, only to end up in conflict with the AI who declared war he was not prepared for. Meanwhile on another continent my neighbor was rushing through the tech tree and I decided to build up a military to fight his defenseless cities. These stories overlapped and were quite fun to watch unfold, and Civ V is really good with that.

As a strategy game, there are definitely decisions to be made, but in a sense there are almost so many options that I ended up just kind of going through the motions and grabbing whatever upgrades sounded neat. The decisions were strategic, but Civ V isn't quite as strategy oriented as you might expect from the variety of choices. If somebody is doing something to win across the map, you don't have much control over that in the early game, and even from a diplomacy perspective it can be hard to convince people to assist your own schemes. As a result, the game can kind of just wash over you and it can be incredibly entertaining, but perhaps not always the most fair strategy experience. Then again, who would want a properly fair strategy experience anyway from Civ, since it is almost more compelling as a collaborative story generator.

The major thing that drags Civ V down for me are the technical issues. Me and my friends experienced many technical issues across our game, to the point that it had to be abandoned because they didn't want to diagnose and fix some arcane issue that should have been fixed ages ago. As a result, the story of our game didn't come to a proper end and that's just a sad note to end things on. It is inexcusable that the multiplayer should be as nonfunctional as it was during our session.

Overall, Civ V is a great time with friends, assuming the game actually works.

Great strategy game, practically grew up on it. Unplayable now due to instability issues, unfortunately.

good, but not my type of game

Игра не требует представления. Спустя столько времени наконец-то ее прошел, достигнув культурной победы. Интересно то, что я к ней не стремился. Пятая часть мне понравилась больше всего. Не пожалел потраченного на эту игру времени.

Civilization V is more than just a strategy game, it is a display of hope to humanity's potential on achieving greatness by celebrating its monumental accomplishments through eons, and reminding us of the darkness of war, all while giving you the freedom to run your legacy in any way you desire, be it through tyranny or care.

It is as entertaining as it is educational and inspiring, I guarantee you will not put it down for several hours.

I think I'll just try Civ 6. There's too much paid DLC.

Pro Tip: It makes plane rides, car rides, and days shorter.

We always boot this game up every few months, play for an evening, have a lot of fun, save the game, and then make a new campaign a few months later.

I'm not entirely sure why I bought this game in the first place; strategy games are hit-and-miss with me to begin with, and Civ never really stuck me with its claws the way it did many, many others. Great music, though.

was fun but ultimately not my type of game, too nerdy

Really good but you really need to watch a video or have someone explain the base mechanics to you first because it can feel really overwhelming and has basically no tutorial. When you know the mechanics and how to actually play the game get ready to spend weeks having fun campaigns alone or with your bros.

A very solid, if relatively safe, entry in the Civilization series. Probably the easiest to approach as a newcomer, but lacked a lot until both expansions dropped.

I picked up Civ V from a Steam sale a decade ago and put it down after an hour. But recently some friends encouraged me to try it again and were willing to tutor me through a game, and now I'm having a blast. It really is a dangerously addicting pillar of PC gaming history.

no strategy game could ever achieve what this game did

Breaks friendships, creates dictators.

Eu amo esse jogo mais desinstalei ele do meu pc pelo bem da minha vida. O tamanho de uma partida casual desse jogo é O inimigo da produtividade

Ps: o modo steampunk merecia um jogo próprio

One of my top games to this day. Imo it's the best Civ game.

I've put a lot of hours into this game over the years.
Id never really played any games like this before and was very confused at the beginning. the tutorials didn't help at all and there are so many different systems to learn that it becomes very overwhelming very quickly.
I was fortunate enough to have been introduced to the gameplay through the multiplayer mode with my friends. aside from a dedicated tutorial mode that limits the scope of the features while you learn, playing with experienced friends can be great because they can answer your questions and help protect you so you can survive through the occasional tedium.

The king of strategy games, and for good reason. It could be better about teaching concepts to new players, though.

Really good but gets stale (especially after playing 700 hours) and mod support is not as good as Civ IV.

Difficulty Played: Emperor

Civ is a franchise that I have tried a bunch over the years, but never quite got into due to the barrier to entry with a lot of the mechanics involved. When I finally did with Civ 5, I found a lot of enjoyment trying to strategize the economics of my civs, plan out intricate defenses and invasions, and it was great. However, one thing I find with Civ is that after you play like one or two games, each lasting 10s of hours, you either get bored with the minutia of playing at endgame, where everything is on autopilot and a lot of that early game strategy is lost, or you bump up the difficulty and get wrecked by the overly aggressive AI right at the start. Getting over that hump is what will allow you to enjoy this game for hundreds of hours, because there is that much content and fun to be had with the different nations, victory conditions, map sizes and layouts.

I revisit Civ every now and then because the game is fun to play, I just find myself quitting not long after my enthusiasm fades from spending 2 hours clearing the map because I already won and just need to meet the victory conditions to end the game. A great starting point for 4X strategy games, and bursting with personality, you can easily lose your entire day playing it.

Casual meets hardcore and they make the perfect baby

Bouek78 i don't understand history. Viva Espana !

My favorite Civilization game of all time. This one really shook up the formula and made it fun.

It's really good, but after playing 6 it's hard to go back.
