Turok 2008 is the type of FPS game that I hate the most. It took a great series of games Turok, with a fairly unique focal point (Dino Shooting) and tried to turn it into a Call of Duty game. My hate probably comes from too high expectations but also from the fact that the game basically pisses on the Turok name. Now I can forgive the poor story line and the repetitive areas and maps that you traverse, but the gameplay itself is just not fun. Most levels are basic hall shooters with generic human enemies which could be taken from any FPS game. So when you do have a chance to enter the jungle and shoot dinosaurs, its fun right? No, it also sucks. The controls are pretty weak and it makes actually aiming at these fast moving enemies tricky. They also circle round you in groups which has you spinning around and running away most of the time. The best way to kill most dinosaurs I met was the press x to stab in the head method, which puts you in a auto-kill cutscene. I can handle bad FPS games that are funny, silly, unique in some way. I don't mind crappy FPS games that try but fail. They just have to be fun and Turok is not in any way fun.
