Rolled credits on this last night, there's a post game but undecided if I'll do it yet.

Had a good time with this one! A rougelite dungeon crawler from 1991 that's tailor built for short play sessions, it's got just enough depth to stay engaging while not so complex that it takes a great deal of energy to play. Great evening game to cool down the day with.

Ran through this with some friends at a party, which is the ideal place for something like this. Fun little take on cricket that escalates in a wonderfully silly fashion.

Had a lovely lunchtime break playing through this! Has some good ideas playing around with the maze formula, and doesn't outstay it's welcome.

Lovely little tribute, and an interesting look at how Celeste's physics would transfer to 3D.

Some of the most fun battles I've ever had in a mainline Pokemon game, still held back by terrible performance and what felt like a VERY tacked on trek back to Area Zero. Had a great time, but I'm left wondering about what could have been.

A fun twist on a childhood fave. KEP relishes in the unique weirdness of Gen 1 Pokemon, drawing out its potential to give us a timeline where Lickilicky is arguably the strongest Pokemon in the world. Amazing.

Slightly jank but engrossing platformer that proves to be a worthwhile challenge. The physics are a bit jank, but considering the amount of freedom they give the player, that's understandable. Load times on switch aren't awful but I do kinda wish I'd played this on steam.

2021

Fun exploratory platformer with some frustratingly vague puzzles bringing it down a bit. Still got some more secrets to find, but I'm content rn.

Dedede's expressions are FANTASTIC poor guy

Very fun showcase for the NES, both pushing the amount of style one could cram into a cartridge while also showing the limitations preventing others from trying. Kirby's a bit clunky to control, but the copy mechanic is genius. Defs sets the stage for the franchise to come.

Hooooly hell

Incredible ending to a decades-long live service storyline that both feels conclusive and still leaves room for more. Certain parts feel a bit rushed - I would've loved seeing this split into two parts, but an incredible end to a great story.

If Mario Kart 8 was so good why didn't they make a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe + Booster Course Pass wait

In terms of sheer replayability this is one of the best couch multiplayer games of all time.

Lovely DLC weighed down by the same technical issues and lack of polish that plagued the main game.

Carmine and Kieren were extremely fun to battle and it makes me hopeful that Indigo Disk's more battle-focused setup will be even better.

Incredibly underwhelming update. The level editor is neat, and progressively releasing more complicated content was a smart idea, but making ALL the new content stuff made from the level editor made it all stale really quick. Would've liked to see them make some survival rounds or SOMETHING with the new hazards created in the level editor so there was more variety.

Every couple of months I pick this back up and try to give it another shot, and I just keep bouncing off it.

BDSP has some great ideas (gym battles are tweaked rly nicely, they've captured the OG gen 4 vibe in a 3d style REALLY well) but attaching affection to friendship is game-ruining for me. I don't want to play with affection mechanics, and Game Freak tying them to a seperate, optional mechanic that I can easily ignore is great. Having to constantly shove bitter medicine down my Pokemon's throats to make them hate me is just so much micromanaging that I grow sick of it real quick.

Really is a shame, since I think ICLA did good work here given the constraints they had to work with, and outsourcing remakes is a smart idea to keep the Game Freak from wearing themselves thin. Not sure if BDSP is the answer that TPC was hoping for though.
