SUPER MARIO SUNSHINE if everyone on the development staff had a brain injury.

Can't really explain my visceral negative reaction to this. The game just feels really wrong in every respect and I was more or less physically rejecting it while trying to play. Gives me the heebie jeebies. Something not right going on in there. I've got a good sense for these things.

Y'know, thanks for posting this. I remember flip-flopping with my opinion while playing, but finishing and realizing that the story is about uppity lefties ruining things for everybody sealed the deal, game mid.

Not that I don't enjoy problematic games, Spyro is a colonial enforcer, but the game feels wrong like you've said when it's off script. Exploration yields nothing but useless yarn, it was buggy ah back when I played it and the visual effects were an unpolished eyesore.

Hat in Time never sat right with me either. Technically its a decent game but jumping feels so floaty and I never fellt like there was any challenge to the platforming. It fellt like i was just going through the motions and the whole "haha isnt this such a quiky game" couldnt carry it for me.
eh ill take it over sunshine tbh, odyssey tho is def the better 2017 3d platformer

Hat in Time feels a lot like Mario Sunshine to me, in that I feel like I should like it in theory, but I don't really have a good time while actually playing

Just to be clear, Mario Sunshine was mentioned in this review as an example of a game that I love and respect fully and wish this game was as good as. My deepest condolences and warmest regards to our comrades who do not walk in its light

i really couldn't click with this game because controlling Hat Kid has absolutely no friction whatsoever. there is no need to ever build momentum or maintain it. it's as weightless as the platforming in Alice Madness Returns.

@gruel oh man I haven't played Madness Returns (yet) but I am definitely seeing shades of the first Alice in here now that you mention it
