This is, overall, a really good game and a very high 7/10, even though it obviously didn't live up to the hype. The characters are a highlight and the bond between V and Johnny is especially touching. The Star is the best, most emotionally resonant, most fitting conclusion by far, but Don't Fear the Reaper might be the rawest shit ever put in a video game.

Combat starts off fine in the early-game and gets good later on - never great, but still pretty fun. I only wish it retained the challenge from the early-game - you get overpowered really quickly, and while all the tools you have around to play with are fun, they make the game really easy even at the harder difficulties.

The gear progression could've been cool, but you reach Gen 5 equipment way too quickly. I've spent over half the game with my weapons fully upgraded and all those gigs had nothing to offer except worse weapons I was never going to use and money I had nothing to spend on. This made clearing out the map really boring - luckily there are many side quests that kept me engaged through their story. The voice acting is top-notch, especially Cherami Leigh as V is a delight.

What's especially impressive is the amount of tiny storylines going on in the world, everywhere, wherever you look. I kidnapped Jotaro Shobo in the first ten hours and kept finding evidence of his dealings well into the late game.

Despite its flaws, I don't regret spending over 90 hours on this game and its DLC. By the end I was very much emotionally invested and the conclusion was lovely - turning into a sort of tale of redemption and found family.

Adam Smasher might be the most underused villain I've seen my entire life

It's genuinely mind-blowing how there's a twist in every single chapter, and yet at the end, it all somehow makes perfect sense without a single plot hole in sight.

This is Shu Takumi's magnum opus and one of the best games ever made. Endlessly creative both story-wise and gameplay-wise, memorable, hilarious, heartbreaking, heartwarming, it is absolute peak.

You will feel the need to hug your pet after completing it.

I haven't actually played this game, I've watched a playthrough on YouTube years ago and still vividly remember every last horrifying, disgusting moment, it might have actually traumatised me

This could have the best gameplay of all time and it would still deserve less than a 1/10

The only good thing about this fucking travesty is that it was so horrendous it snapped me out of my Danganronpa phase and made me discover Yakuza instead. Which is what I recommend to all of you.

If you want something with kinda similar vibes to Danganronpa but without the Cheese Pizza in it and actually good, play AI: The Somnium Files instead.
