Hot take but I think this one is tied with evolution in terms of gameplay and level design.

The physics are immaculate and the gameplay is surprisingly addictive.

The gameplay is easily the best in the franchise, but it is missing many of the elements that made the borderlands series so unique in the looter shooter genre.

It's not perfect but it doesn't exactly try to be. It's chaotic, entertaining, humorous and a total blast to play.

It was a great starting point for the franchise, but it was still missing some elements added in later installments of borderlands.

It's Skyrim, the poster child for first person RPGs since 2011.
