TL;DR, Voldo induced some of my childhood trauma.

So, Soul Calibur II comes under a category of dumb fun for me. There's absolutely no need to lab this game to get right into it.

Good character design generally. mechanic wise the game is great and has some fun interactions. This was before customisation took off, but did allow you to have weapons with different properties, with every character having a soul Edge and Calibur version of their own.

Each version of the game has their own exclusives, with Gamecube getting link, PS2 getting Heihachi and Xbox got Spawn, which looking back at it now, is arguably the best one of the lot.

Fun arcade and then fun weapon master mode as well which gives unique scenarios and tells a story. Beating it is a pain to 100% but did it eventually. The OST slaps. The stages are amazing in every way and super memorable. I think the main thing that lets it down is that the single player, for what it's worth doesn't have a whole lot of variation. Sure, floor is lava and floor is ice is fun, but like, the modifiers can only carry the game so far.
