Dawg the levels are so fun, and then you get to the boss rush, enemy placement is evil aswell and way too many bottomless pits later on in the game, still had a ton of fun with it tho, especially because I didn't realize I played the flash port of this game back in the day, so reaching that ice level had my nostalgia hit HARD.

This game is surprisingly pretty fun, aside some weird enemy placement later on, the ice level (which is mostly underwater lmao) and the x-zone's 3rd boss there's not much wrong with it.

God this game is just fucking boring.

Playing this game made me just feel sad, because when it works I think gameplay wise this is my favorite Sonic game, but unfortunately 9 times out of 10 it just doesn't.

This game is simultaneously more polished and jankier than SA1, all in all I enjoyed it a bit more but in quality they're the same game, but I can point out that the story (while paced as fast as a jet) is much more engaging and cohesive and fun, the music is a clear upgrade from SA1, the voice acting is also a bit of an upgrade, the climax is also just insanely good, just wish it lasted longer.

Pretty fun game, the Amy and Big stages drag (moreso Big than Amy), and things just happen in the plot, but the music is good and honestly SEGA nailed the transition to 3D of this character even withstanding some jank.

(Played with widescreen and DreamCast models mods)

The soundtrack is the best of the classic games, and stardust speedway is cool as hell, but everything else about this game screams "this is a game, the levels were designed, the bosses were bosses".

I genuinely can't think from the top of my head about a single stage I straight up disliked about this game, by far the best in the trilogy and also the only one I see myself giving another run with a knuckles playthrough.

(Playthrough done with Sonic & Tails and by getting all the Chaos and Super Emeralds)

Massive improvement over 1, but the final few levels and the special stages suck the joy out of it.

(Playthrough while getting all Chaos Emeralds)

Sonic handles like a straight up truck in this

Pretty good DLC, Yuffie is fun to play as, bummed out by the fact I NEED to play Dirge of Cerberus to understand who some characters are, but pretty fun still.
Also very funny how for the entire main game I kept being mad at the dodge not having iframes, and then this DLC gives one to you, but it costs ATB, and you need atleast a full bar to use it, whatever.

While I have some very specific issues which come down to personal preference with the gameplay and how some of the events are presented, this is an incredible love letter to the original game, and a very fun experience.
The ending though addresses the original story in a very presumptuous way.

Hajime Tabata literally always makes the same game with garbage gameplay and a messy story, and then proceeds to make the main cast really good and endearing and to totally punch you in the gut with the ending.

This game has a ton of good qualities, but also a ton of flaws, I mostly enjoyed my time with it but this needed a script rewrite and revising how the combat system works because it can be a lot of fun, but making every normal enemy even outside minibosses a damage sponge without staggering and not being able to actually control your party members are not things that should be in here.
The characters are mostly good, the weakest ones being Vanille and Fang because they don't really have a character, but I liked how the others bounced off each other.
The art direction is also honestly stellar paired with the music, but the PC port is awful, so if you don't search enough for a fix you'll have to play with abysmal framerate.
Overall ok game.

This shit is some hot ass, I'll probably do post ARR content when i finish the main series, but jesus this was not a good first impression of the game.
