If your game has to take tens of hours "to get good" sorry but I will not continue playing it

Base Game is a 7/10
Base Game + DLC is an 8/10
Played on Critical on my first playthrough.

While it has various issues both minor and major if you didn't wait for this game for 13 years you'll most likely be satisfied with this experience.

Played on PC with a mod that integrates ReMind abilities in the normal progression and one to speed up the turning animations on the ground, as it makes movement feel janky and just clunky all around.

For years I've been conflicted on what was my favorite game, on my first playthrough of this this wasn't it either, but after replaying this game on critical mode, doing critical level 1 runs and spamming runs with the randomizer mod, I realized that i love this game.

Kingdom Hearts 2 is a masterpiece, a perfect mix of a great story, great characters, amazing combat, and (mostly) great bosses.
It's a one of a kind game, one that is so easy to learn, but owns such a high skill ceiling for player expression that is really hard to find in these kind of videogames.

I've always felt like ARPGs were a bit off, yes I enjoyed to an extent stuff like Crisis Core, but honestly mostly for the characters, as most ARPGs focus more on the RPG part while leaving the action aspect of the game barebones and really surface level.
Kingdom Hearts 2 flips the table on this and combines an extremely satisfying and pretty complex combat system (including enemy design, boss design, actual combat etc.) with RPG elements pretty seamlessly through combos that can be alternated between magic and normal keyblade combos, or just different magic spells themselves, not to talk about the myriad of limits, the 5 drive forms which change your moveset and all have their own quirks and the 4 summons present in the game which all serve different purposes, the great thing about having all these options is that EVERYTHING is viable to use.

This game of course is not perfect, it does have its flaws, but they're honestly so minor compared to the behemoth of good qualities this game has that it doesn't really matter.

Yes I might be biased, but doesn't everyone act like this towards their favorite game?
Kingdom Hearts 2 is an experience that keeps me coming back time and time again without fail, this game was released in the mid 2000s and it's still being replayed over and over to this day, that alone is a testament to what an amazing game this is, something that touched my heart, and something that had me having fun all the way throughout without fail.

Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix is my favorite game ever made, and even if you think the Kingdom Hearts series is pretty dumb, you might still enjoy this one, so give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

This is the most OK game ever, there's nothing really offensive in here aside the bosses, which none of them are well designed or enjoyable (even if I did kinda pog when rage awakened came up during the Terranort fight).
The voice acting is kinda all over the place, most of the time it's fine but some characters like Aqua and Snow White are just ear grating.
The Combat system is a big stepdown from KH2, and on a surface level it is better than KH1, but only on a "surface level" since keyblade combos become obsolete and do no damage by halfway into the game, so you have to rely on spamming triangle, which gives you the illusion of doing a lot, but, removing all the flashy lights and animations, the camera being taken away from you, and the admittedly very good sound design that blasts into your ears and feeds your brain dopamine, there's really no substance here.
You can't combo magic with physical combos anymore, air combos are really slow and flashy for no reason, the air slide has horrible end lag, the camera is straight up bad and yada yada stuff you already heard about.
For the command deck, I like the idea on paper, a system to reduce the menuing while still giving depth to the combat, sounds great! And I like the command fusion aspect aswell to try and build the most fun deck possible, then you realize that for mobs you just need magnetega + thundaga, and for the bosses just leaf bracer cura + surges, effectively annihilating the entire game;
Another gripe I have with the command deck is the cooldown for the commands, that means that early game with no attack/magic haste abilities you either risk doing a physical combo or sit in a corner and wait for your commands to recharge, and for late game you just spam commands with no cost or risk due to the aforementioned abilities.
The story is ok, nothing remarkable and honestly just makes the kingdom hearts universe more convoluted and less charming.

The Zack cameo was amazing tho.

While i really do like the main trio of this game and the way this "friendship" is portrayed even in spite of them not really being able to experience emotions, the gameplay was an actual chore, after getting some mobility and new keyblades it does get a little better, but it then gets instantly worse due to the amount of badly designed enemies and bosses.
Play this only if you are REALLY into Kingdom Hearts, but I wouldn't recommend the movie either because some aspects are far more immersive in a gameplay form, like the final battle against Xion or the fight against Riku, which even if horribly designed, were pretty cool given the OST and various story elements around them.
It is a DS game so i'll be way more lenient than usual with this but I really wish they remade 358 instead of CoM.

Main issue is the recycled content, but I really liked the card collecting aspect and the gameplay itself even if horribly unbalanced, I also genuinely enjoyed the story a lot too.

Played it twice.
Really liked it my first time through and thought it was a really nice story with basic but decent gameplay.
On a replay I had to lower the score as the gameplay really does not hold up, I love the story and music, but god half of the game is just fucking bad

EDIT: Bumped from a 2.5 stars to 3 stars after having played DDD

unfortunately i played this

1st playthrough on Ultra-Violence

Really not proud of this one

This game is really not good, level design consists of long hallways that are all the same and become labyrinths to just pad out playtime, all of this mixed with really janky and unpolished combat.
The character creator is not even that in depth, and to top it off it really has a really generic and bland story made even worse by writing tropes, inconsistencies and the awful english dub.
Atleast some of the bosses are fun and challenging.

Really fun game but way too short to make full use of its mechanics and with a bland ass story

Fuck the fishing achievements
