Infinite Wealth is a huge step up from Yakuza: Like a Dragon in everything but story. The combat improvements they've made had me hooked a lot more than what 7 was able to do, and all the sub-stories and minigames were a blast to play. Unfortunately, this is one of the weakest Yakuza games when it comes to the story in my opinion. A lot of time was spent building up to different plot points, with very few of them having a satisfying resolution. In saying this, the ending was sufficient for me, and I enjoyed the Life Links. Ichiban continues to be an incredible new protagonist, but I hope they gave him the opportunity to shine like he did in 7 again. I'm hoping RGG do what's best and let Kiryu rest for good this time.
With the amount I've played of this game, I WISH I could give it a better review. Hopefully in the future that can change, but with the current state of the game it's really difficult to be positive. Bungie have been consistently letting players down, whether it be the most dissapointing story campaign to date, very common bugs and issues leading to features being removed or disabled, a lack of refreshing content with a lot of the seasons feeling the same, and just a general lack of care to this franchise.
For new players, I highly recommend staying away, as any attempts at adding a tutorial or a starting point for new players has become more and more complicated, as well as the removal of old campaigns and stories. This means the only way players can realistically learn about the world and the history is by watching youtube documentaries.
Again I want to love this game, I've spent many many hours and had a LOT of fun experiences in it, specifically when it comes to raids & grand master content, but in the current state, this is the review I have to leave.
