It's very rare that a game remake completely nails what it's trying to do. But Riven manages to not only remake everything that was so delightful about the original game, but also expand it in ways that update it and make the world pop with even more life and vibrancy. I have always held that Myst birthed a genre and Riven perfected it, and the remake manages to meet every expectation I possibly could have had, and in several ways surpass them.
tries to make 3d models into picross puzzles, in a way that technically works but fails to produce even remotely interesting puzzles. Devoid of joy, this picross game fails to grasp a single thing about what makes the genre interesting. It could perhaps be forgiven if it's controls were sensible, but instead its interface is a pale faded mess of colours and unchecking boxes, frustrating to solve even simple puzzles in.
