I don't think anything has ever instilled such a permeating sense of unease in me. It starts when I look at the title screen and stays with me well after I close the game. It's hard to articulate what speaks to me so much about this game so I'll leave it there for now.

A gorgeous adventure. Bit too scuffed as a rail shooter to truly enjoy it on those terms but the spectacle of some of these levels are cemented in my mind now.

Goofy fun and heartfelt? This game is like flash game aesthetic Gunstar Heroes to me.

da fuckin best. I think 5 might be just as fun to grind difficulty and ranks in but i think this ties it together with its castle level design, making the first playthrough just as memorable and important as the climb to perfect your devil hunting.

Final Fantasy 14 is a cult, "free demo with hundreds of hours of content!!" is the hazing.

A brief stream of encounter annoying level design -> use whatever weapon nullifies said level design. Yeah yeah music is good or whatever. I'd probably be harsher if normal mode and getting lucky on boss order didn't give me a breezy experience. The best level was the boss rush I think.

Edit: Got so mad at mega man 3 that im punishing mega man 2 for this

I like piloting da mech but the levels get a bit samey and boring after a while. The worst ones feel like bad dungeon crawler levels without any joy of exploration, the best are the fast paced fights with enemy mechs in an open environment. Both feel like they test your build more than your skill; mastering the controls never feels as rewarding as it should but upgrading saves you a lot of pain as you play on. Will play the squeakwels.
