Spun a wheel to decide what game to review and it landed on this one.

NEO: The World Ends with You (N:TWEWY for time's sake) is my second favorite game of all time. I remember seeing the trailer and immediately getting hooked on... well, everything. N:TWEWY is an action RPG set in a stylistic setting of Shibuya where you're given missions to complete for the day as you survive the Reaper's Game, a life-or-death game where you fight for your existence for 7 days.

N:TWEWY is a combat-heavy game where each party member is assigned a button in order to use an attack. Party members are only active when they are in your control, with the AI standing idly and dodging automatically. It can get very hectic, especially when you get more party members, and combat can get repetitive very quickly which leads to my biggest criticism with the game: The pacing.

The pacing of this game can be downright atrocious. Sometimes you'll be doing a mission with a constant flow, only to be bogged down by backtracking, and it varies for painful to "ok, lemme just keep playing the day ;-;" But that's ok, because the OST for this game will keep you hooked.

I mean this with full sincerity when I say that N:TWEWY has my favorite OST of any game I've played. The music is comprised of nothing but bangers after bangers. The worst thing you can say about the music is that the genre isn't for you. I like heavy rock, metal, and grunge, but I'm not a huge of screamo.

I've kept this review super vague, so just go play it! It gets put on sale a lot for the PS4 and Switch for very cheap (roughly ~$20 ). This game is very special to me and I want more people to appreciate this game since Square Enix has left this franchise to be buried in a dump.

A very chill experience. Not a huge rhythm guy, but am a huge beat 'em up guy and incorporation of the rhythm aspect wasn't very difficult to adjust to (the game even has a "beat meter" to follow along if need be). Only major criticism is the platforming aspect, it's pretty weak with the MC having a very stiff jump. Overall, a fantastic game with great visuals, vibrant cast of characters, silly story + writing, and an absolute banger of a soundtrack with licensed music and streamer-free songs makes this game an absolute blast!
