2022 Throwbacks

Older games that I played for the first time this year and really liked. A complement to my "Stand-Out Games" list.

I played this over the year boundary so it only kinda counts but man this game owns. The interlocking plot structure, the sense of humour, the live-action charm, I love it all.
I wasn't terribly impressed by the other Infinity games, for different reasons, but as a fan of Uchikoshi's more recent work, this one hit in all the right ways, kicking off a narrative-filled year with a good start.
I could qualify this is a 2022 release if I wanted because I played the Switch port, but it would mess up automatic sorting. I expected the hype I'd heard to be overblown, but it pretty much lived up to it!
I cannot believe I slept on this game for so long even though I knew about it, this is my jam. Now if only it was feasible to play the other games in the series without original hardware...
I'm still conflicted about this one - the moment to moment gameplay really grates with me, but the core concept is soooo cool.
