My personal favourite and in my opinion best Kart-Racing game ever made. An excellent sense of speed with tracks that accentuate that feeling, fun to use weapons, and an excellent soundtrack.

The best Mario-Kart in my eyes. A good collection of established characters, fun bouncy physics and driving, with the usual polish in terms of track design and presentation.

A faithful remake of a classic, whilst including tonnes of fan favourite characters from elsewhere in the series. Not a fan of its monetisation, but still great fun.

Mario Kart 8 feels more of 'The Greatest Hits and some remixs' than it does a brand new entry. Still up to the usual high standard of Nintendo in terms of music and visuals
Suffers from an overabundance of characters, who cares about Dry Bowser and Pink Gold Peach.

Has a few dodgy production values, with models and sound effects being a bit off, but is a fun handling kart racer featuring SEGA characters. Powering through Single-player mode to unlock everything took a bit too long, nonetheless is a fun time.

Even six year old me knew that this was a significant downgrade from CTR, in terms of content, design, and creativity. Not terrible, but with CTR and Nitro Fuelled available, there isn't much of a reason to play Nitro Kart

As pretty much the progenitor of the genre, it seems basic and primitive compared to games that would come out even just a few years after. However, it can still be fun, even if the Mode 7 effect looks odd.

Besides questioning why this game exists, at its core, it's just a fairly slow-paced kart racer. No ability to drift makes it feel sluggish, and the weapons are pretty basic. The game at least looks colourful, and the tracks are okay.

Imagine Micromachines, but the camera is behind you, it's much slower, and has a dodgy physics engine. The environments have nice designs, and the bar models are cartoony but is a sub-par kart racer.
