Devil May Cry 2 is not unplayable or broken, just not the expected sequel. There are dozens of games worse than this one.
It seems this is the path the modern "gaming" is taking: lack of critical sense, just memes. Like the ones that made Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance one of the most played games in 2022.

I like some of those games, and I also found some fun on Splatterhouse, specially on the highest difficulty. Not the greatest beat'em up out there, but not an awful game either.

I do want to note Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z has a 1.9 rating, which is essentially the same as the 1.6 for DMC2. Most of the others might be avoiding low scores simply due to the face barely anyone has played them on Backloggd, low sample size.
