Alice Madness Returns is my #1 favorite game. The art style is amazing, the world is full of life and manages to stay colorful yet bleak, and the story is just delicious.
This game is honestly extremely underrated, and should be experienced by a lot more people than it currently is.
The story goes through Alice's mind and how trauma, depression, and abuse can warp someone's brain and affect their behavior, outlook on life, and personality. It is a direct sequel to the first game, American McGee's Alice, where she is out of the asylum and seeking help from a shrink. When that doesn't help her, however, she decides to take a dive into her destroyed and crumbling Wonderland to find her own path to solace.
Gameplay is simple but exciting. Alice takes up the vorpal blade once again, but this time in knife form. She also finds plenty of other weapons to use throughout her journey that all have a different use.
A personal lovable trait of this game is Alice's outfits. Each dress is tailored to the major locations in the game, and once you complete the game, they can be equipped to give a certain positive or negative passive to change up replay games.
This game has it's own personal place in my heart, it has helped me realize things about myself, encouraged me to seek my own help, and changed my perception of not only myself but others.
Things are tough in life, but as we go on, we may get beaten down time and time again, but we only come out stronger than we did going in.
