That one 4chan post making fun of the term "Metroidvania's" and using the name "Wolfendoom's" to refer to classic FPS' has damaged me immensely.

DOOM (2016) is a special game. Under that category of game that makes you feel unstoppable but something about it just sticks better than the rest. Could it be the first-person nature of it that adds to the emersion, maybe the flashy kills feeling earned, or the feeling of being just thrown into this messed up situation and the first thing you are told to do is shoot? It's all of these really. It feels so right. Combine that with the fun exploration and the exciting gunplay combat that has you moving all over the place while using everything in your arsenal and you have a game that feels like a triumphant return to the classic Wolfendoom genre, and it feels so good to be back.

Mario's in 3D! He's Real and Coming Out of The Screen! Run!
This has always been a game I wish I had when I was younger. I would have eaten this up. Playing it now, I can still say it's something I got a kick out of. There are better portable platformers now, and even better portable Mario platformers for sure, but I dunno, this one's just charming. It does feel like classic Mario in 3D due to its simplicity. It rocks the 3DS controller layout like a champ and I can't really see it going to another console. It's jam-packed for a console like this.
As a game, it's fun. Levels are quick and easy and it's not punishing. It's made to work for all ages and that's fine. It makes for a nice pick-up-and-play game. I like this game a lot and really wish I picked it up when I was younger but don't regret playing it now. Don't expect groundbreaking action but do expect a simple and fun time.
