Damn near everything about the game is amazing, except the combat. The combat is just fine, its turn-based stripped down to its most basic, however battles are still fairly fast and there is a charm in a lot of the battle animations, and many of the boss battles too are excellent so there is still enjoyment there, just I thought mechanically the combat felt a bit lacking. Balancing in this game is weird too, where some low MP moves do more damage than high MP moves, or the Job System having bad stat balancing and pretty much never switched Jobs until the postgame as otherwise my party members would have screwed stat balancing and be weak as hell until they levelled up.

Everything else though is amazing, this game has some of my favourite mini-games and side activities in the series, and the story is AMAZING and easily one of if not the best story in the series for me. Good starting point for the series too, while many moments are better if you are a long time fan, realistically you can jump on board with this one in my opinion.
